This is our second season in the prem Brian. Than if you take Burnley into context theyve had 15+ signings and look far more cohesive than us after getting promoted. At some point we have to dominate one game at home. If we cant do it against Burnley or Sheff U than who are we going to?
We have 7 points and they have 1. That's context.

Someone told me he was world class because he'd won the World Cup...

He was schooled by a child tonight.
Still early days but I did pose the same question when all I heard was he must be great as he won the World Cup.

May well come good but I do worry about his physical attributes in this league and more importantly our style

I actually dont think Deano is that bad to be honest. Ant is always ready to explode in anger that it makes it unwatchable and Wolverine gives me the ick with his shit nicknames for other footy clubs.
They're all tw@ts in my opinion. Couldn't watch any of that lot. Never in a million years.

You only have to remember the start of last season to see how difficult throwing in a load of new players can be. I'll take time for them to gel, especially Sangare in the heart if things.

First Team Squad
As disappointing as that result is, I don't think we need to be too concerned with what we saw. I could see glimpses of how we want to play and I think it could work. There were moments when we looked so good and fluid, but then you'd see a few mistakes, mostly due to the squad not knowing each other well enough yet, which would make players doubt themselves, and those split second doubtful decisions is what allowed Burnley to get a foothold in the game. It's such fine margins at these elite levels.

I think in the future when they all understand each other's games, and Cooper better understands how to put out a balanced side with these new players, we will see more commanding performances.

My quick take away, if anyone cares:
  • Elanga - I like that he is always looking to attack his man, but ultimately didn't do quite enough tonight
  • Taiwo & Morgan - Had some nice moments which lead to promising situations, but we ultimately couldn't convert, and then otherwise did most of their good work without the ball.
  • Sangare - Showed us glimpses of what he will offer, didn't have his best game and gave the ball away needlessly too often. Mostly seemed taken aback by the pace of the Prem, I think once he adapts and gels with the teammates that he will dominate that midfield in some games.
  • Montiel - Sadly just awful, I felt for him coz there was a moment where you saw his confidence completely go and then it was all downhill from there. I like his grit and he has a bit of a bite in his game, which I think will actually help a bit in games, but he needs to get up to speed fast.
  • Turner - I really liked what I saw, commanded his area really well and was really good at taking the pressure off the defence. I was impressed with his performance and he made some smart saves.
  • Worral & McKenna - Not awful but not great either. I think they both did really well in the situation they were in, but I don't see this as a strong Prem pairing. I would like to see either Niakhate or Felipe get back in.
  • Tavares - Actually looked full of running and he impressed me. I don't know if it's down to him coming on or Montiel going off, but we seemed to have a little more impetus going forward.
  • Aina - I though he had a really solid game, got beaten on a couple occasion but mostly reliable and I feel confident when he has the ball at his feet, which should tell you how good I think he is on the ball. When he moved in place of Montiel he did an absolute job on Koleosho, who had been tormenting Montiel, and we didn't see much from him once Aina was on him.
  • Hudson Odoi - Absolutely delighted for him to score a worldie on his debut, can't remember the last player we had who could do that. I think he could be huge for us as he gets match sharpness and confidence back into his game, and judging by his interview after you can see what he thinks of Cooper and that he is here to learn and improve.

I think we have a really good squad and, in spite of tonight's result, I think we shouldn't have to worry about relegation for too long.

Just got back so trying to process what ive just seen but on the whole a bit dissapointed.

We really didnt offer much of a press in the first half when Burnley were literally passing it to anyone or anywhere but their own players, I think a bit more aggression would have seen them crumble, they are really really fragile at the back so dissapointing not to have exploited that.

There was some chemistry missing tonight I guess, perhaps with the new lads needing to bed in. CHO looked really good from where I was sat but Montielis really struggling to adapt at present. He was pretty shaky in his first game against them the other week but tonight Kompany fully exploited that and it showed, I think he's gonna take a while to settle. Sangare had a few ropey moments in the 2nd half but on the whole it wasnt a bad debut.

I really want to see a bit more consistency from MGW now, hes had a season to settle in etc and I think its time he started improving his decision making a bit. It looks brilliant when it comes off but theres a time and a place for certain passes, he needs to find that balance more regularly.

7 points from the first 5 games isnt too shabby though so I cant say im unhappy with where were at. We just seem to have a habit of making things 10 times harder than they actually need to be at times.

You reds.

Formation change, tempo change and two defensive debutants ultimately one change too many. Lots of tired players by 80 minute mark too.

Felt like if we play that game in a few weeks time we probably win it. Think the CHO/MGW white combo has room to grow and Elanga learning to play more on the shoulder for the through ball will give lots of options.

Disappointed a little bit excited for what may come.

Sorry @Rockabilly I am with you though I dont do FFTV but I dont think Deano is as bad as all the others. He seems like a deeper thinker to me, I could be wrong though.
Deano is depressing. Could turn the milk sour.

Megaphone man was the best, but they got rid of him. He's now on Jay's show. (y)

On top of everything else, Aina (not the tallest) did really well with back headers on deep crosses beyond the far post with a player coming in behind him. Got it out of the danger area two or three times.
