Let’s hope it’s a case of ‘after the Lord Mayors show’ for Fulham.

Edit - Never mind!

If Fulham play half as well as they did today then we are screwed. It is an away game, so we are screwed anyway
That‘s the spirit!

Lots of similar proposed sides posted, and seems I'm largely in agreement if sticking with a four at the back:

Vlachademos/Turner (- take your pick!)
Aina Felipe Murillo Toffolo
Mangala
Sangare Dominguez
MGW
CHO Elanga

I guess what I might do is this:

Vlachademos/Turner
----- Felipe Niakhate Murillo ----
Williams --Sangare -- Mangala -- Aina
--- MGW ----
CHO ------------------- Elanga

The other option with that would be Wood in as proper striker (instead of Morgan in a false nine - desperate) for one of CHO or Elanga, with the two behind playing inside forward type roles.

Glad we have an extra day on Fulham - small victories.
Are you playing The Greek in front of turner then?
Turner catches the crosses; the Greek kicks the ball away?
:)

Honestly I don't think I've seen enough of either to know if one is better than the other or if either are decent.

I wasn't as frustrated as some by the Greek yesterday, though accept he looks a bit timid on crosses. Bloke near me wanted him to be a sweeper keeper, which seems completely at odds with how we set up. (Which was completely at odds with how we played!)

Honestly, back to what worked at the end of last season for me, as much as possible, with the low block.
I'd bench Gibbs-White and Sangare, because honestly they haven't been up to snuff.

Vlachidimos
Felipe Niakhite Murillo
Aina Toffolo
Yates Mangala
Danilo/Dominguez
Wood Elanga
Boly seems injured so Mous can come in. Felipe and Niakhite was our best two pairing towards the end of last season, so they have a relationship. Throw Murillo in there as well, of course. Harry hasn't really done much wrong, but we need Aina's speed for this to work. Yates and Mangala keep it tidy in the midfield, more so with Dominguez than Danilo but if it's Danilo, he's the ball carrier up the field through the middle. Wood put in a shift on Saturday, just keep him up there with the defence, don't ask him to keep coming into midfield for the ball.

Bit of luck and a prevailing wind, we can get something in West London again.

I agree about shape. I thought we should have done this a while ago. The experiments to make us easier on the eye can come after we've got 35 points. Although at this rate we'll be lucky to have any dead rubbers at the end of the season.
We need to stop the rot, I'm happy with a bore draw.

Pretty much agree with this. I think it's fairly obvious that playing a back four is not working for us -- just as it didn't work last season. I know we're trying to evolve, but we're in a real crisis and (with apologies to Charles Darwin) evolution will have to be put on hold. The overwhelming priority right now is to stop the rot. We desperately need not to lose this one and if that means stifling the game with a low block, so be it.

Montiel Niakhate Murillo Aina

Mangala

Sangare Dominguez

MGW Elanga

Origi

Time to bin off Wood for now, bring in Montiel and Aina as FBs, none of this safety first approach. Return of the midfield trio who have looked the best. Dropping Dominguez for 1 mistake was folly.

It's do or die time.

Bit of a long shot perhaps, but I've got a senior ticket going for this game if anyone fancies being my dad for the evening. 🥸

Morpeth

John Robertson
Dunno
Felipe Murillo Niakhate
Aina Yates Mangala Toffolo
Danilo
Wood Elanga

Murillo can step forward.
Danilo and Yates can interchange and both can drop when Murillo goes walkies.

We’re currently the easiest team to play against with the exception of Sheff Utd.

Fulham actually looked decent against Liverpool and Willian will be tormenting us again.

Fulham 2-0 Forest

(Does anyone else have “that feeling” where it’s hard to imagine us beating anyone at the moment?)
yes... but that's just me being a miserable sod.

One of the best fixtures to play after the current ineptitude and it will be nice to play away from the City Ground for 2 reasons. 1st our away performances have justified more points return than attributed, whereas, conversely, our home performances have gained more points than deserved. 2nd, we can go back to counter attack breaking with pace without the pressure of having to dominate the ball at home.

Vlad
Aurier Niahkate Murillo Aina
Sangare Mangala Dominguez
MGW
Elanga CHO

Or 5 at the back with:

Vlad
Aina Felipe Niahkate Murillo Toffolo
Sangare Mangala/Dom
MGW
CHO Elanga

I prefer 5 at the back, but Palhinha is quality and their dangerman so 3 CMs may be required.

I'd be inclined to return to three at the back as well, return to the pattern at the start of the season and the formation that got us our best result of the season thus far - Chelsea away. Open games suit Fulham, who have struggled to score goals this season (up until the last two), so we need a compact and fluid shape here with lots of work rate - players willing to press a 36 year old Ream and a busy midfield that squeezes Paulinha out of the game. And with Niakhate, Murillo and Felipe all available it's hard to argue that those three should not all be on the pitch at the same time. That's an outrageous back three. So I'd go with 3-4-2-1

Turner
Murillo Felipe Niakhate
Aina Mangala Sangare Toffolo
MGW Dominquez
Wood
Elanga probably deserves a rest and he'll be a great option to bring on in any scenario - whether we are chasing or need a pacey outlet to relieve the pressure if we're holding onto a lead. Likewise with CHO. Wood gets one more chance for me - just one more, over Origi who I don't think is in the shape yet to be starting games. I also think having Sangare, Mangala and Dominguez back on the pitch at the same time is important, as they were just starting to work really well together. Aurier I sense feels like he has done his job here and has checked out a bit, sadly. Aina always first choice for me now. Toffolo done nothing to warrant losing his shirt.

Just think its time to batten down the hatches a little bit and get back to basics, a la the Villa game. No point persisting with 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 when its painfully obvious we just can't operate it without Taiwo, and the players just don't look comfortable in it at the moment.

I really think we can win this.

MGW as the lone striker, is it worth a shout? Wouldn't be as physical as awoniyi but would definitely keep defenders on their toes
