It's Baggio

John Robertson
A bit late, as I went away for a few days on Sunday. I was half-dreading the trip as I expected a nervous build up to the Palace game but after last weeks result, I've had the most blissful week. :D

Saturday was right up there with Wembley as one of my favourite days as a Forest fan. The atmosphere right the way through was something else & the performance matched up. We were never going to have much of the ball, especially after scoring relatively early but the way we defended was magnificent. Worrall was MOM & has quietly had a very decent first season in the PL. There was the odd dodgy moment earlier in the season but even back then I felt he'd adapted the best out of the 3 CB's we came up with. More recently though he's been consistently very good despite being in & out of the team at times. Heartening to see, alongside Yates & Johnson, our academy graduates having a big impact at this level.

It was a solid performance from front to back, the recent switch in midfield to pick the more aggressive, athletic players has had a huge impact in our recent form & has bought out the best in Mangala as the deepest man. Freuler & especially Shelvey just wouldn't be as hard to play against. Danilo was a bit sloppy on the ball & wasted a couple of decent counter opportunities but his versatility & running power give us so much.

Gibbs White for me is Player of the Season & Saturday was him at his best; full of effort, invention & drive. We'd have been down a while ago were it not for him. All of his creativity & attacking stats put him alongside some of the best in the division & to consistently do it in a team which has so little of the ball is pretty special. On top of that he seems a really good lad & is right up there with the likes of Collymore, Reid & Roy as one of the best players to watch since I started going in the 90's.

Credit too to Awoniyi, I had my doubts early on as he too often looked like someone who'd never seen a Football before but his development over the season says a lot for him & the coaching staff. He's always had a knack of getting himself in good positions but the rest of his game has come on bundles. He's possibly got the best shin in Football as well.
