Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years.

They said it was over, they said it would never be back, they said it wasn’t good enough for Nottingham Forest…but it is Storytime with Uncle Congo!

Be careful what you wish for, he thought to himself. The cold, unforgiving wilderness of the Premier League stretched out into the distance in every direction. He had wanted this, they all did, but he now found himself wedged precariously in a gaping crevasse, with a long drop down to the familiar, almost comforting sight of the Championship. But it was a long fall down to there, and one that he figured he’d be unlikely to survive.

He reflected on how he had got here. He had reached down, stretched every sinew in his body to try and grab the alluring, tempting, three points that were just beyond his grasp… and just as he thought he’d got them, he slipped, falling into the position he now found himself. He didn’t want to drop further, but his hand was now hopelessly stuck, he was unable to climb back up, but he knew he couldn’t stay there either. He momentarily drifted into a fever dream, perhaps fuelled by his hunger, or the pain of the situation, haunted by a hallucination of Jonjo Shelvey spraying inviting forward passes to a rampaging Chris Wood…but then clarity returned and he carefully maneuvered his arm that wasn’t trapped, reached into his top pocket to retrieve his trusty pen-knife…and in that moment, Steve Cooper knew what had to be done.

Right, that’s enough of that nonsense, I haven’t got 127 hours spare to finish this story.

The last game before the international break saw Newcastle convert one point into three with a late penalty, when Moussa Nikahate showed just how long he’d been out of football as he momentarily forgot that he wasn’t allowed to use his hands. Up next is another home game, as the Wandering Wolves of Wolverhampton pay a visit to the City of Fun. It’s the start of a run that will either see us survive or… yeah, that. This one falls on April Fool’s day – so whoever makes a balls up this time can write their own headline...and it's also scheduled to be a national rail strike, so the joke will probably be on the travelling supporters.

And now, it’s time once again for the moment you’ve all been waiting for – it’s Congo’s Match Facts! A recurring series running from now until Evangelos Marinakis’ patience runs out.

Wolves were founded in 1877, but were then known as St. Luke's F.C. They changed this to Wolverhampton Wanderers just two years later due to their original name sounding a bit noncey.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are more commonly known as either ’Wolves’ or ‘The Wanderers’, their fans surely are some of the most imaginative in all of Football at coming up with nicknames.

Wolves have made their home at Molineux stadium since 1889. The name Molineux comes from Molineux house, built by Benjamin Molineux, a local merchant who was also blessed with the legendary Wolverhampton skill for coming up with imaginative names.

Wolves traditional colours of Gold and Black are a reference to Wolverhampton City Council’s motto “Out of darkness cometh light” with the Gold representing light and the Black representing the dark. If anyone has visited Wolverhampton, you’ll know they’ve been waiting a long time for that light.

Wolves currently have 12 Portugese players on their books, but only 3 English players in the squad. Oh, hi Jorge Mendes! Didn’t see you there.

Wolves are owned by Fosun International, a Chinese based conglomerate that has previously invested in Pharmaceuticals and Alcohol producers. Glad to see that they don’t waste all of their wealth

Wolves have equal opportunity Mascots – Wolfie and Wendy. I’m not going to assume which is which by the pink bow and skirt though.

“If Wolves were a beer…They would be…”

Not just because this beer is historically associated with Wolverhampton, not just because it’s golden…but also because it has been bought out so many times it’s now owned by a global conglomerate and has lost it’s authenticity and character.

Probably the biggest game of the season so far.

Ideally would like Kouyate in the side as part of a 442 diamond, but I think it's going to come too soon for him what with him only being in part-training before swanning off to Africa for a week.

Forced hand lineup therefore:

Navas
Aurier Felipe Niakhate Lodi
Yates Mangala
Johnson MGW Scarpa
Surridge

Grantham Town; they have an effigy of the town‘s favourite daughter, Margaret Thatcher, as a mascot.

I have no idea what the score will be, but I want to see some effort from Forest and preferably, three points.

Let us hope that Wolfs‘ celebrity fan Robert Plant will be Dazed and Confused after 90 minutes.

Up-Front
This HAS to be 3 points (caps for dramatic effect)

Wolves are beatable, key to this game for me is doing something we've struggled to do all seas, which is finding the right balance between defence & attack. As good as Newcastle were, that 2 in midfield left great swathes of space in the middle of the park, we effectively gave them 20 yds of free space when we turned the ball over.

So back to a 433 for me.

Navas
Aurier Felipe Niakhete Lodi
Yates MGW Danillo
Johnson Scarpa Dennis.

Rotating front three, Im backing MGWs box to box abilities, I think he can defend.

Danillo is the key, Id play Kouyate if fit, if not, then im drilling Danillo for the next two weeks as to whats reqd.

I think we'll win this.

Seems harsh to drop Dennis unless he's injured. I'd expect Ayew to start ahead of Surridge too, thought he did OK.

Personally don't think Dennis is any good. Nicely taken goal vs Newcastle but beyond that his usual self, ridiculously slow to make decisions, trying to take on three players and losing it, not tracking back to help Lodi at all. If you're going to play him then for me play him up front, so that his decision making requirements are limited (can shoot more often from an advanced position) and there's no requirement to cover full back.

Surridge: I went for him as he's more energetic, someone who can run the channels for 60-70 minutes. Bring Ayew on then after. Either would be OK for a starting berth though.

We have to win this to kick start perhaps the the biggest week this football club has had in decades.

I’ve absolutely no idea how this game will go so I’m sitting on the fence and going for a 1-1 draw.

I think we need 4 - 6 points from Wolves, Leeds and Villa to have a chance of staying up.

OK: Wolves are unbeatable.
Wolves are going to rip us a new fundemmental orifice.
Wolves will slaughter us.
It will probably be 4,5 or even 6-0.
We will have no shots on target and only 3 shots off target all game.
Dennis, Shelvey, Felipe, and Cooper will all receive straight red cards in a 2 minutes spell of madness.
The home crowd will be silent from the start, not bothering to sing MOK because they all know a shit-storm is about to be unleashed.
The crowd will only become increasingly voluble as the depth of our inability to play even Championship level soccerball becomes increasingly apparent, with mass booing every time the ball comes to a Forest player.
There will be a mass pitch invasion at the end of 90-minutes, with a ceremonial burning of Forsa Garibaldi's latest banner display.
There might even be a ceremonial burning of Matt, Fletch, Temps, Greg and Mikey for their failure to tell it like it really is on Garibaldi Red.
Marinakis will fire Steve Cooper, very publicly just as Steve is about to start his post-match interview with Colin Frey.
Dan Levy will emerge from the directors Box with a contract to appoint SC on a 6-year multi-million pound per year as C*nte's replacement at Spurs.
And they all lived happily ever after.

P.S.: Wolves are certainly in breach of Equality Legislation by only having 2 gender based mascots. They are ignoring the rights of women with willies, men with fannies, and those who profess to be like Sam Smith.

For me, injuries aside, our best team is:

Navas
Aurier, Felipe, Boly, Lodi
Yates, Frueler, Kouyate
Gibbs-White
Johnson, Awoniyi

I'm hopeful that Kouyate and Awoniyi are potentially in the frame for this, and Niakhate can slot in for Boly.

That would put us close to our strongest side, and we'd be in with a good chance of securing the three points.

Cooper to work his magic over the break, 2-0 to the Famous Team!

1-1 draw. Twitter, Facebook and the forum to all simultaneously implode within 5 minutes of the final whistle.
Think this is quite a likely scenario to be honest.

By the full time whistle, I'll be on hour 6 of my mate's stag do. So I probably won't even be able to mentally process the result.
Can I save my meltdown for Sunday morning?

I'm bringing the better half to this game. Last time she was at a match was the first game under Fawaz.

Wolves Nunes is now not suspended for our game, they appealed the 3 game suspension he got (as a non used sub) against Leeds.
