Saw people on the internet call him budget David De Gea but I think Benfica fans have been harsh on him. They probably expected alot better for being who they are but he’s a great shot stopper and meh in a possession style game. Alright on the ball, I think his main weakness is coming for crosses but I think we can help him improve that.

For a team where we are and the type of style we play, he’ll be very good for us.

My two cents from someone who has watched him for well over 200 games.

He is indeed a good shot stopper and has above average reflexes. He is also competent in 1 vs 1 situations where the striker attemps the shot instead of the dribble.

He is not suited for teams that dominate the game, as he is pretty much useless in posession and does not leave the goal. The penalty area is as far as he’ll go, so he’s always not on time to stop counter attacks. Terrible at controlling the space.

He also does not control crosses whatsoever, he will stay in goal no matter what, i assume he is more confident in his ability to save a shot than to stop it from happening in the first place.

He’s also not a leader, which is a welcome characteristic in a keeper.

Nonetheless i wish him the best and hopefully he can have his best moments yet at Forrest. Cheers.

Just wanted to say, now that it is official, from a Benfica fan, thank you!!!
He is not the worst goalkeeper around but he is also not a goalkeeper for Benfica’s level.
Very good on the line and has good reflexes, but he is absolutely terrible at controlling the space, very bad on corners and free kicks (been a nightmare on that for 7 years), and he is always afraid to exit the goal line (i hope you have tall and fast centre backs)…terrible with his feet also.
Don’t exclusively believe on the highlights, if you dig deeper you will find really crazy stuff…
Ahhh, and don’t put him on the bench because he will just make sure his agent sets him a new club immediately, he doesn’t deal well with the bench… at all. This was not a one time event, also happened with another coach in the past.
