We had loads of hamstring injuries last season I just wondered if you had an issue lqst season how Cooper was managing them.
I recall Cooper playing a pretty 2nd string side in the Blackpool game, so from that no.

But whether I did or didn't, I'm not sure why that doesn't mean I can't be concerned about the likes of MGW now?

What about in the League Cup?
MGW played 174 minutes in all Cup competitions last year

This year he's played 363, over twice that.

I think Cooper did right last year cutting his cup time down. Good game-time management. One of the things which probably helped keep us up.

Thanks for bringing it up, something else which shows Cooper to be a better manager than Nuno. 😁

And yet we had a load of hamstring injuries, why where Coopers training methods so poor compared to Nuno?

Agreed with the team selection.
Didn't agree with the crazy depth of the line in the first 20 mins that handed them the initiative.
Thought the remaining time between then & half time showed how far we've progressed offensivley under Nuno.
Second half was totally unacceptable.

Make of that what you will, but its another loss, with more negatives than positives. Had Wood converted them chances who knows, but given their lofty position that Spurs performance was crap, yet they still despatched us with an ease, you very rarely see any other teams lie down like we do.

What a f***ing slog this is becoming.

I don't blame the deep line. Spurs like to bring a lot of players forward and we had Elanga, MGW and CHO on transition if we could release them on the counter.

It's exactly the line-up and tactics I'd have chosen so I don't blame Nuno at all for it.

It's a shame we conceded a couple of soft goals in the second half and then couldn't drag ourselves back into the game thereafter but that's as much on the players as the manager. We're a very timid side this season, confidence seems to flow or be fragile as f***.

I suppose if we had releable second string players we could rotate like many of the top teams do. Unfortuntately we don't.

We're actually struggling to put out a top class first team.

Camping out on the 18yd line against a side who can knock it around rarely ends well though. Scoring the first yesterday & then banging them on the break for a second looked our only hope. We looked far more effectual pressing them high, we were first to every loose ball & caused far more problems.

Hindsights a wonderful thing, but going after them early rather than conceding 3/4 of the pitch felt the right way to go. Far too timid out the traps again.

"Nottingham Forest Are Premier League"
The Nuno Espirito Santo Rolling Scorecard 23/24 edition

Spurs 3-1 Forest

An ultimately disappointing performance that ultimately felt like a missed opportunity. After allowing the hosts too much early space, it was no surprise the lads fell behind, but fought back superbly to level and be the first half’s clear better side. They would have been ahead at the break but for a truly unexplainable miss that was instantly forgiven.

That Forest were unable to continue their form after the break was a concern as levels dropped hugely. The lads became progressively more passive, gave runners oceans of space and offered very little sign of battling back once the hosts established a buffer. That has to change immediately.

In truth, any reward here would have been welcome as opposed to expected, but there should have been more fight. Moving forward with a positive, there were odd flashes that the lads are still improving in the critical final third. They just need to knit together a full 100 minutes in the next one.

Nuno cards a bogey to fall back to +3 on The Rolling Scorecard.

Trend (last 6 games): L, l, d, D, W, l.

I'm a bit surprised he's only on +3. Guess it hasn't been quite as gash as I thought. Not having a pop at Nuno, just feels like we've done a lot worse. I guess that's the impact of the points deduction.

To be fair. As things stand NES has a better points per game average than SC.

NES - 15 pts in 15 games = 1ppg obviously.
SC - 14 points in 17 games = 0.82 ppg

It's not massively different, probably not different enough to have warranted the change (in hindsight).

On the one hand you could say Cooper had the top 3 teams all away plus United away but he also had the bottom 5 clubs excluding us, all at home.

I thought it was time for Cooper to go but Nuno has barely done better and lacks the bond with the fans. I think it's also worth saying that Nuno has been extremely unlucky with decisions. Shocking/corrupt officiating has arguably cost us anything between 5 and 10 points just in Nuno's time alone.

After all that perhaps it's just that we have a pretty mediocre group of players that anyone would struggle to turn into a team that consistently wins points in the Premier League.

Whatever the outcome this season I don't think I'd shed a tear if we decided to change manager this summer.

If Cooper would have had Sels and a smaller squad to work with, he'd have the higher PPG too IMO.

Although, he'd have still been sacked for being around 12th though, because of our blinkered "ambition" and a top brass which has 0 grasp on British footballing reality.

Nuno has to stay if we go down though. For all his faults, it would be madness to change a manager who got promoted at his first attempt out of the Champ if that's what we need. If we stay up? Meh, I've not seen anything which makes me thinks he'll push us on to the top 10 as our ambition requires, but maybe he needs a pre-season shaping the squad? He's definitely been sold a kipper, and may have had other ideas in mind if not for FFP/PSR.

Nuno's stay at the club is entirely dependent on EM. He won't walk, that's for sure and give up the rest of his contract. He'll wait to be removed and if the search for a replacement goes on and is successful, I can see him going over the Summer. Mainly because I don't think this season has panned out at all in the way EM and his fellow director's imagined.

Maybe I am one of the few but I would actually like to see Nuno get a full pre-season, summer transfer window, etc. under his belt to see what he can really do.

He's been hampered by Afcon, injuries (although we are not alone here), points deduction and the lead in to that, strange on-field decisions, etc. not an easy task....

I see folk mention that he hasn't connected with the fans but with the above struggles and following Cooper, it was always going to be a slow process in making that connection.

Fingers crossed he keeps us up and then gets a good shot at it, his past record speaks for itself (minus Spuds) and I hope he can push us on!
