Bit harsh on Benalouane there, didn't think him or Alex Milosevic were too bad considering we needed CBs and they weren't expensive.

Think he scored the winner against the sheep when MON was here too.

Yes shite but not as shite as some people say - though less so Bong who wasn't at that stage good enough for a promotion chasing side.

I always viewed Benalouane as cheap cover considering Karanka had sent Joe to Celtic that season and we couldn't defend at all. We had Dawson, Figs, Robinson, Hefele and most of them were crap or injured too so it was a case of getting someone in who knew how to head a ball.

Think we ended up with Danny Fox permanently being a CB by that stage too and I remember Yacob played a bit as an emergency CB that season

Thing is, he was the keeper for a decent Swiss side when we signed him, and came with a decent reputation.

He should certainly have been good enough to play in a side which won the 2nd tier, but he wasn't, and I think Crossley might still have been injured so Harry Bassett had to get in Beasant because the international keeper they signed was shite.

Perhaps not too dissimilar from when we signed the keeper from another national side beginning with S
