NFFC DAB?

Given the Sadpies have slid into oblivion surely it's about time Radio Nottingham started broadcasting Forest matches on DAB, rather than our wheelbarrow bothering neighbours? Given RN news of a new contract to broadcast our matches for another 3 years the time must be right for this change to be made.

Yeah, more likely Mansfield will get it.

No, I don’t know why either.

I hope not if it means that Forest dropped off of Freeview. It's the only way we'd get the game live out on the coast without a cost. If they keep Forest on Freeview and altered just the standard radio I don't care, but have the numbers of digital receivers grown enough for the majority of listeners to have digital receivers?

There are 2 FM frequencies a DAB channel and some Freeview station. Forest were on AM, but that transmitter got switched off last year.

As it stands a non-league club will get better coverage than one in the Championship!

The Forest games should be on DAB end of. It's all contract nonsense that prevents it.

Part of that is the monetisation of the commentary within the U.K. via iFollow (what used to be Forest Player).

If Forest commentary was on DAB, then IFollow - in the U.K. at least - becomes redundant.

DAB is still only local. I wouldn’t be able to pick it up in Manchester, for example.

Ah, so it isn’t national in the U.K. then?

Interesting, thought it was like it is here.

I’m sure you can pick up local stations nationally on DAB?

I seem to recall my dad picking up Radio Nottingham on his phone and piping into the car on away games right after the game.

No, it’s only broadcast from local transmitters. You can get internet radio nationally, but that has a 3-5 blackout on a Saturday.

I’d love dab to switch , I get it clear as day here but FM is reliant on the atmosphere.

No, I've tried out here on the Lincs coast and couldn't get it, so I was really pleased when I got a tv with built in Freeview and found that it was in package here.

You can get DAB via the internet anywhere in the UK and I think further afield. For example via the Tune In App. I use it to listen to pre match build up.

However, it is blacked out during matches which I think is unfair considering I pay my TV licence which funds the BBC so I shouldn't be penalised because I don't live locally.

Online is restricted due to the player network, which I assume you don't pay for?

We get the crappy end of the stick.

If you live in Notts you can listen for free.

If you live outside the UK you can pay for iFollow to watch Forest games.

If you live in the UK but outside Notts, you can't watch and you have to pay just to listen to coverage, as you say, funded by a licence fee you've already paid.

I think Mansfield 103.2 have the contract for regular Mansfield games. Radio Nottingham reception is crap in Mansfield even on DAB, FM goes dead at the Halfords junction.

Like most things you post, never fails to raise a smile.

If you could edit in hardy taking down that sign into that video... the forum would have to shut down as peak capacity would have been reached.
