… and I have a dog with a missus who works nights..

Think yourself lucky you didn’t have a baby with her, they’re much more work!

But, you make a valid point Emmo; Forest could have been brave here and tried something different. But despite all the bluster and bullshit, it just sounds like the same crappy IFollow service, only 15% more expensive.

Nail and head spring to mind. If anyone from the club is reading this you should be ashamed. Complete ineptitude, poorly thought out whilst ensuring you rip off and alienate loyal supporters. 100% I will not subscribe to this shite.

I have a feeling Forest are still dealing with the old streaming service company, and now with their new streaming partner on top of that they have just thrown those costs at the supporters.

Great to see 4 matches are already blacked out for most international supporters in the first 2 months of the season, with another couple likely to be added to that list as they draw closer.

Every month that passes in a season the value per pound/dollar/euro/peso/etc gets worse for international supporters as matches get picked for Sky broadcast in the UK. Matches that can not be viewed any other way in many of the international markets they are blacked out in.

I would like to see no international supporters sign up at all until next week as Sunday's match is a blackout anyway!

Yep. I’ve got DAZN anyway (€12 a month) so will get to see those matches that are „blacked out“ in Germany on that (frankly, excellent) Plattform.

This is just looking like frankly piss-poor value to be honest.

If I can watch the blacked out matches on DAZN anyway, the remaining 35 or so games aren’t such good value (especially considering the coverage isn’t exactly top quality and there’s the live games and…nothing else.

Exactly this, let's see if they've been smart to funnel some ££ into actual production too aside from paying for the OTT and content management partners.

I'm expecting Copa90 levels of programming for this ££

What on earth is the logic behind restricting people from Ireland, North and South from accessing the package?

It is probably easier and cheaper for fans from Northern France to get to the City Ground than it is for us.

Despite reservations about the content many of us, who, through age or disability, have difficulty in travelling would be willing to pay for the package.

It’s another case of the Club cutting off it’s nose to spite it’s face.

Very good point. I wonder if Sky has anything to do with it?

I'm confused about the audio subscription. On the website it says it's £5.99 per month or £44.99 for a season pass. When I go to subscribe it only gives me the option of a monthly pass at £4.50. Puzzling!

Thank you - you're right - I hadn't spotted it all the way down.

For £10/2 hours the quantity of advertising is beyond ludicrous.

At that premium price it should be ad-free. There should be a cheaper/free option packed with ads for people who are ok with that.

Most content providers work like this. Netflix. £13 quid a month, all I can eat and no ads. Amazon the same. (8 quid)
Spotify I can pay and have no ads or use the free service and have ads between songs. I pays my money (well, I don't) and takes my choice.

The forest TV option is the worst of both worlds.

My mum's at home and not happy/willing/able to go to games. She really enjoyed being able to watch the games during lockdown. That's been taken away from her now.

Forest can do better.

Last season Forest were shown live 16 times by Sky and 2 times for international 3pm selection, if we had been more successful that could have been easily been more.
Even where I live and all 46 games will be available to me, it is still a lot to pay especially when I can watch 380 premier league game at £90 for the season.
I thought £140 was excessive but £169-99 or £224-91 if you pay monthly is taking the P***.
If I was in the position to see the games locally I would probably have to think hard if I want to pay that sort of money for possibly 28 games or less.

Im gutted I cant buy the games here now. Going to forest live is a hassle for me from Chester. Its a 2 hour journey there and I have a dog with a missus who works nights. I am going to miss out on footy now, I know its going be like the before the pandemic but I am gutted.

I agree with you, it's slightly baffling really how they aren't continuing with match passes, given that for some it isn't going to really have a difference on season ticket or matchday ticket sales because those people won't go to the match anyway, or can't, or would but don't have time or don't feel comfortable due to covid etc etc.

I get this is probably more down to the EFL's licensing deal than anything else within the club's direct control but other clubs would surely have the same issue.

Guess they don't want the £10 for 40 odd matches a season (given that a few will be on sky) that probably you and I and no doubt others would gladly pay to see the match. I live in Nottm but don't have the time on pretty much any Saturday to fit going to the match with the extra travel, time getting in and out etc etc with other commitments but would be able to watch it on the streaming service.

It's a legal requirement, they are legally not allowed to show 3pm Saturday kick offs. Last year was an exceptional circumstance, for them to continue it would take a change in the law.

In the US, ESPN shows the championship. They also show MLS, Liga MX, La Liga, Serie A and frankly too many to list for about the cost of a fancy beer per month (it's bundled with hulu and Disney) I split it with a pal, so it’s very cheap (I think it’s $10 a month).

The Forest TV sub makes no sense at all. Firstly, It’s an 8 hour time difference, which isn’t a problem with ESPN as you can watch a spoiler free replay on your smart tv the second the game ends - you don’t even need to record it, it’s just there in the on demand section. With the Forest player a replay appears hours later and there’s little chance of navigating the site without seeing a spoiler. Secondly, there were only about 30 games on Forest player last season, assuming about the same this year, you can f*** right off for $230.

I’ll pick and choose individual games and use espn for the rest. I’m genuinely stunned that they raised the price.

I’d definitely recommend it to US based reds.

The Disney bundle is isnane value, but I'd rather have the 20$ version from Hulu so I get no ads since getting it from Disney gives you the basic Hulu sub.

I have my own ways to get the stream BUT the espn+ having some games is a good option, along with the multiple other live sports it offers for us.

If anyone is interested I signed up today for an annual sports pass on Now TV for £200. Works out under £17 per month, decent saving as it's usually £33.

Sounds interesting, ends up about the cost it is if you permanently keep cancelling when your reduced months end...

Yes, which ultimately is down to what the EFL are allowed to do, im pretty sure if the EFL and EPL wanted to change that they would get it if they asked.

The thing is, that even though we're out of formal restrictions things aren't yet the same and potentially won't be for some time which is no doubt why people are talking about vax passports for example.

And even if it was, it's a bit of a fallacy to assume that people who are in the UK can get to a match if they want to. I understand that the blackout thing was to not impact ticket sales but you really can't see that being an issue these days. They would no doubt get more revenue off the people who can't go by allowing them to watch for £10 than they would lose from people who would then prefer to watch the match on their computer as opposed to at the stadium.

I've got espn+ and it's great value for what you pay. I had both that and Forest TV last season. I'll probably do the same this year but f***ing hell, that's steep for Forest TV.
