Most memorable moment watching Forest

Beat me to it, Rocka!

After the preview on early evening TV talking only about Liverpool and ignoring us as if we were some unknown foreign team whose only purpose was to be brushed aside by them and then their fans chanting “One goal’s not enough“ just before the goal, this was the perfect riposte.

That Brian Rice day.
So many emotions in such a short space of time
The excitement as Clough split the defence.
The despair as we realised it was Rice who was clean through.
Time standing still as the ball was scooped over the keeper towards the goal.
Total shock as the ball hit the back of the net.
Absolutely mental celebrations in the Clock End.

And that one is mine absolutely amazing day closely followed by Peterborough away

Perhaps a bit leftfield but my most memorable one would be the West Ham game, first home game back in the Premier League,

I'd never seen PL football in any capacity and after watching so much L1 and Championship in my life, I was looking forward to the day for months and months and then when it finally arrived, it was just an incredibly, memorable, day. Seeing the City Ground like that and us actually compete (after looking out of our depth vs Newcastle) was incredible. What a day.

Having my neighbour and some lads at school brag off all week about how Wendies were gonna get revenge on us at their gaff for our 4-1 thrashing of them at the CG, then watching us thrash them 7-1, then going to a party in Hope Valley that night of one of the said school lads, and then getting noshed off upstairs by one of their gals as one of my best mates got noshed off by another of their gals sat next to us, as we swagged a can each and talked to each other about what a great season Collymore was having.

Think the ale was Fosters, but if it had been Carlsberg it would have been perfect. Good times.

Noshing is a verb you don't hear enough these days.

Love your stories Alf  They may raise eyebrows or be too X-rated, graphic or vulgar for some, but in those Britpop days this is exactly the sort of reality that happened.

Being in awe of Jonah Lomu bashing up every opponent, playing sensible soccer with your mate down the road, staying at your other mate's house every weekend, fingering your next door neighbour's daughter (same age as me, in case there's any Epstein accusations), then watching One Foot in the Grave and Big Break. A stark combination that can never be forgotten.

Anyway, back to the thread.

Most memorable moment. Such a tough one.

People might hate me for this but it would be between Majewski's volley against West Brom, when I just thought Forest were on another level and getting on top of the best teams in that division at that time. I went to my mate's house with a few beers to watch the match. He's an Arsenal fan but he loves Forest because of me and I got very drunk that night celebrating with him and ate sausage and dairylea sandwiches with him. If you haven't tried them. You're missing out.

The other one would be McGugan's goal against Ipswich. I'm still not sure I've seen a better free-kick. That's without the rose-tinted glasses.

Ps. All of this is up until the playoff final against Huddersfield obviously.

So many spring to mind.
  • Watching Forest batter Southampton 3-0 in 95 (earliest memory at Forest)
  • Watching on in horror through my fingers as United battered us 8-1.
  • Forest 1-0 Newcastle in 2009 - I took a break from football from 2005-2009.. still remember the feeling of walking out into the Main Stand and my chest vibrating from the noise.
  • Forest 3-4 Blackpool in 2010 - The most heartbroken I've been at the football.
  • Forest 1-0 Derby 2013 - My first Derby game.. Jack Hobbs, bullet header.
  • Forest 2-2 Derby 2015? - Dani Pinillos.. last minute header.
  • Forest 3-0 Ipswich - What a game that was, bought the new shirt the day of and got onto the pitch at the end, for the first time. Cohen's goal still gets me.
  • Forest 1-2 Sheffield United - THAT game. That shootout. That night.
  • Forest 1-0 West Ham - WOAH.. WOAH FOREST ARE BACK.. WOAH
  • Forest 1-0 Arsenal - Safety!
  • Forest 2-1 Manchester United - Finally got revenge for 1999.
I have to say Sheffield United, the best game I've ever been to.

That’s the one for me. The first goal was a belter as well.

And I paid precisely £1, in cash, on the day, at the turnstile, to get in, and to stand on a massive terrace with no roof. Happy days.

The Pinillos goal against Derby was 2017,DB (when we escaped relegation on the last day).

Agree with many on here re memorable games, Ipswich (running on the pitch, from A block, at the final whistle with a broken finger and getting rugby tackled by a steward), 3 consecutive finals 89-91, the obvious one in the play off final. But, will plump for Forest 4 West Ham 0 in April1991, at the FA Cup semi. First time at Villa Park. All standing in the Holte End,, with West Ham next to us, with only a narrow corridor of netting between us, where the coppers were hitting West Ham fans with their truncheons, who were on top on the netting. At 4-0, we weren’t watching the game anymore, but chanting at the Sham fans and winding them up instead.
