I was there and watched the game play out. Doucore played a much more withdrawn game than he would normally, and him and Gueye were quite close the whole game. MGW was struggling to find space and if he tried to turn one, the other would cover.

I think if Elanga started it would’ve created a little more space for MGW to operate in, Reyna was essentially useless. CHO basically got 2 mistakes out of Young, imagine if Elanga had the whole game to do it to the other fullback.

That will be blueprinted. He has to be better than that if all our hopes are pinned to his mast.

This is why having two *useful* widemen are important. We should be okay ending the season with Elanga and CHO and hope we don’t see Reyna again on the wing.

Not only was Reyna useless, he was also drifting inside to the space Morgan often occupies, bringing yet another body with him. In fairness to Reyna he isn't a winger and will have wanted to get more involved, but playing him on the right didn't work for various factors.

Suppose we could question whether CHO and he could have switched - Reynas returns from the left side suggest he does a better job there - but well, pens.

It’s such an annoying problem that we’ve had since coming up, even in that promotion season we were heavily one sided but it was fine.

I understand why everyone hates Origi but he often gets real wide and does carry some threat. I would’ve started the game with him assuming Elanga fitness was an issue. Makes sense why Elanga was brought in after 5 minutes in the second half but the damage was already done. We start that game with Elanga it could’ve been majorly different.

Still tho, those damn pens.

The only threat Origi carries is the possibility of falling on someone and injuring them.

Missed a big chance on Sunday that would have drawn us level. Needs to be putting that away, but he'll not draw much criticism from me as I feel he tries his best every game and seems to care.
