My lad's done all my portraits of the European cup team, I've gorra wall full. Don't fancy any after the Stuart Pearce era though.

But that is excellent Louise, incredible likeness. All power to your talented elbow !
Thanks very much; likeness is my primary focus so really appreciate this feedback.

You hang around long enough @louisecobboldart you‘ll find there’s a few great artists on the forum 😬
Wow!
How do you do that Bonfy?
With Loise we have a brilliant artist; with you we have an IT Grandmaster.
Me, I'm just a sad old aged pensioner with nothing left to society, other to be turned into Soylent Green in a year or 2.

Sorted that Captain ⬆️ no charge as usual

Louise is new around these parts but I’d always be available to advise her on new techniques to help her with her fabulous talent. 🤔.

That is excellent stuff. Fantastic portrait. Well done.

My older brother is a free-lance wildlife artist working as you do with acrylic paints (and graphite pencil) but on ‘hotpress’ watercolour board. He dabbled in sporting portraits when he was young and always said that the hands are the worst part to get right.

Unfortunately, I failed to inherit the artistic gene in the family.

Keep up the talented work.

You’ve captured his expression perfectly, you can almost picture this, he’s just about to take a free kick and is weighing up his options.

Louise has indeed captured his likeness and expression perfectly - and it's an excellent piece of work - but I believe you, Strummer, are wrong and need to look again. My interpretation of the artwork is as follows:

In the painting, young Morgan has just entered the canteen at the training ground and, yes, he is weighing up his options . . . you are correct in that regard. However, the choice he is trying to make is between sausage, egg and chips or a ham and cheese sandwich for his tea, set piece routines being the furthest thing on his mind at that particular moment.

And yet . . . to boil the artists talent down to the above would be wrong and we should look again, again, beyond the picture and our over simplification purely based on what our eyes see. Louise clearly has the skill to convey a picture beyond a picture and I - fancying myself as a Brian Badonde type - am guilty of making assumptions on first look. Having reflected on the painting for a while, I can now see the artist has perfectly captured MGW's pure bewilderment and confusion at what plays out before his eyes. Yes, he has just entered the training ground canteen. Yes, he is - in the furthest recess of his his mind - making a choice between sausage, egg and chips or a ham and cheese sarnie; this is the burden of the modern day Premier League footballer . . . but what we see him seeing is the terrifying and shocking sight of Evangelos Marinakis at the self-service buffet counter. Try another look, see for yourself.

Thank you for posting, @louisecobboldart, it's an excellent painting, very thought inducing. I don't often offer my critique on the artwork of forum members but we do have some talent here, it's fair to say.

@Bonfy177 @Alf-engelos Mindminackers - I'll do your work another day.
