Why is MGW not our captain?
He is the stand out leader on the pitch, always plays with his heart on his sleeve and is the first name on the team sheet.
I don't disagree with your general point QB, but whilst Yatesy is always so close to first XI selection I suppose that Nuno and the squad are happy for him to continue wearing the armband.

I don’t begrudge Yatesy the armband when he plays because he also leads by example but maybe isn’t a guaranteed starter.
I just think MGW is the most “natural “ leader out on the pitch.

He will captain the club properly at some point. It could be something the club are holding back on as a new incentive in contract negotiations.

He's already captained the club. My take is that he can be a bit up and down through games (frustration, self criticism etc) and Yates is a bit more stable/positive and has the 'one of our own' thing too.

Having lots of leaders can only be a good thing though - think several* of ours have captained sides before coming to us... more the merrier!

* Sels, Boly, Felipe, Niakhate, Dominguez, Wood, Gibbs White, Yates from memory, there's probably more.

Honestly, I'm enjoying him while he's here: I think Spurs (and possibly others) will be in for him in the summer and expect him to take that move.
Can't see it myself. Too similar to Maddison and Tottenham won't have loads of transfer funds available unless they sell, and a striker must be their priority. Of the clubs that can afford what we'd want maybe Newcastle, and they'd have to sell first too.

Andrew Omobamidele has captained Norwich.

MGW won't leave this season unless we get relegated or get offered stupid money.

We're building a team around him, he's a guaranteed starter and has a genuine affinity with the fans. The only other PL clubs that would do that with him are sideways moves and I bet we'd throw more money at him to keep him wages wise.

If we have another relegation struggle next season then I can see him getting fed up with that and wanting to push on, and who could begrudge him then?

the issue seemed to be that maddison's form has dropped off the cliff and they are looking for the next new toy.

If we sell him for 50 that’s not a big enough return as far as I’m concerned. Minimum 80m or do one.
We pulled the stops out to get him, paid high, because he was our main man.
Forest believed in his talent. If anyone wants him that badly they’ll have to do the same but he’s worth a much higher price now.
And if there’s an FFP problem f*** it I’ll take the -4pts.
A fantastic player with bucketloads of passion and energy and he’s ours.

Nottingham's dirty secret
I'm 100% positive he'll be a Forest player next season if we stay up.

Murillo could possibly go & we get that lad from Reading who plays for Olympiacos.

Big E saw first hand how this lad dominated the entire pitch and gave him a bear hug to match. He's going nowhere yet.

Yates has shown himself to be quite adept at buttering up the ref. Gibbs-White is a bit more emotional when it comes to that stuff.

Still, any team worth their salt has captains all over the pitch, armband or not, and I think Morgan falls into that category.

MGW, Murilo and Danilo look like serious long term investments.

I think we sack off the the likes of Sangare first. Dare I say a full profit on Yates.

The first 3 I mentioned looked on the ‘inside’ to me. Last resort sales.

No to the full back link as others have mentioned - but his technical level when he arrived from Bayern was seen as well ahead of his peers at Forest.
And - for what it’s worth - such a nice, humble bloke ( speak with him regularly ).
I sat next to him in the away end when we lost at Ipswich 6-0...poor guy looked like he wanted to be anywhere else!!

Side note - check out this team...dark days

Nottm Forest: Gerrard, Curtis, Melville, Morgan, Doig, Rogers (Perch 59), Friio, Powell (Evans 56), Commons, Dobie (Harris 56), Taylor.
