Dear Morgan, it's been a busy few days down here - we've been filling the squad full of quality ready for your arrival. How's things there? Family good? Perhaps it's time for you have a quiet word in the ear of your boss now? It's almost time...
Love uncle Steve.

Looking at the alleged bids gone in the last few days looks like we have moved on.

I think we were more than generous in our offer to Wolves, he will only go down in value from now until he signs a new deal.

Be nice to replace JLingz next summer with MGW at a fraction of the cost of this summer's quoted fee.

Agree with this. I don't think the club should go any higher than what they've currently bid (which I'd even argue was excessive).

If he doesn't get much game time this season and doesn't sign a new contract with Wolves, it's something we can revisit at a more sensible price.

Conversely, I think we've made a good 'final' offer and we'll be back later in the window with a restructured one of lesser value but more up front.

Me may not get him, it's Wolves' perogative not to sell, but I very much doubt we've moved on; all the way through we've been told this one's going right to the wire, so until the window closes I think we will remain interested.

Could all come down to whether the player requests the move, which would obviously cost him a ton of cash. Qué Sera...

Wolves have shown some serious commitment by restructuring their entire system to free up MGW in his preferred role. Even willing to let Coady go on loan for the season as they move to a back 4

I think they're fairly confident he's sticking around for the season

Misses the champ
From Percy's article today:

"Forest have cooled their interest in Morgan Gibbs-White, the Wolves attacker.

Forest offered £25 million plus significant add-ons for Gibbs-White last week but the proposal was turned down and the club is now considering other options."
Probably why we're after Malinovskyi who would be far better value for money if we can get him.

Nottingham's dirty secret
If we can get Malinovsky then it's a no-brainer. He looks phenomenal.

I still think MGW is destined to play for us (or Cooper at least) but I have a sneaking suspicion he'll have a less than stellar season and we'll all be thankful we didn't spunk silly money on him.

I think there’s a certain amount of horseplay involved in Forest showing Wolves they will bid on other targets.

I still think MGW will be a Forest player by the end of the window.

Yeah I think at this point Forest have done the smart thing.

- Effectively shown that we won’t up our bid forever (whilst still making it clear our bid is more than fair and represents how highly we value MGW)
- Approached and I suspect subsequently leaked our genuine interest in other targets.
- Have a system and starting XI in place (especially if we complete Dennis and Freuler) that isn’t reliant on MGW joining

This deal gets done if Wolves blink or Gibbs White is strong is pursuing the deal. He knows he’s important to us, and Wolves know we are comfortable and professional enough to move down our list.

As much as I'd like us to get him, if Wolves won't take a guaranteed £25m (and up-to-£40-million!!) package (which is their right to do so, he's contracted) then of course we start planning elsewhere. I've no doubt that we'll revisit this in 12months, by which time his value will be better known and our relegation/stay up status will also be clear.

We can't put all our time and planning into this , and we clearly aren't.

This thread genuinely cracks me up. Yesterday people are like...... We are just leaking the names of people to pressure Wolves into selling.

24 hours on it looks like we have genuinely signed Dennis, Freuler and Kouyate is on his way in as well.

Forest dont mess around do they!?

The only loser in this situation is Wolves. Even if MGW has a great season it seems unlikely he'll change his mind and extend his contract there, so he will inevitably leave at a discounted price next year

They better hope they get their moneys worth out of him this season because he certainly won't be fetching £40m next year with a year left on his contract

Swift work indeed! I still think we'll be back with another offer though...

Be a shame if we don't get him now, so many words typed and so much hope invested. Bet he'll be gutted too.

If he has a great season at Wolves, why wouldn't he renew his contract there (or go somewhere better)?
