I would happily pay 30 mill if we didnt have lingard already.
Depends whats left in teh budget I suppose and we are all not privy to that! I like MGW do not get me wrong and I do really want him but not to the detriment of adequately filling the squad. However if we can do it and EM and Coops are happy with whats left in the budget to strengthen areas needed than fair!! If anything its bloody excitingIt feels like the goalposts have shifted. We're moving heaven and earth to not only stay up, but to look beyond year one. Lingard is for now, with no anchor around our neck beyond this campaign. MGW (and Johnson) is potentially the offensive lynchpin for years beyond this initial relegation battle.
If EM will finance it - and Cooper absolutely, clearly wants the kid as a centrepiece of our future side - then juggling the bench in the short term will be accommodated imo.
The biggest issue is that Wolves obviously want him, he's getting plenty of minutes and was even Captain in a friendly. He is developing rapidly and could be worth 50 million in a year or two so if we really want him.....
I won't be shocked if he stays at all. But I'm glad we're having a real crack at it.
Perhaps he’ll offer them a ship…Forest obviously think so. We've been quick to move onto other targets when its clear that there isn't a deal to be done, but this one isn't going away.
Marinakis himself getting involved is a pretty big statement as well.
I also think the extra 5mil could be another player we don’t need to sign, because of MGWs versatility in CAM, CM, Wing, even CF.30 million is too much but if the extra 5 million is the cost of Cooper signing a new contract just pay the bloody thing.
5 subs! 5 subs 5subs!Not trying to be a Debbie downer but I don’t think we should probably pursue this if wolves are going to get ridiculous with their valuation. We have lingard, Johnson and awoniyi as a front 3. Are we going to sign him for 30 mill to sit on the bench? Or bench one of those players?
Or just thinking about it could he play centre mid instead of Yates?
This. I don't think we'll get MGW (even if we did bid £30m), but if he did come I'd have no doubt that both he and Lingard would both get plenty of game time. The club wouldn't be willing to spend that kind of money on him and Lingard if they didn't plan to use them both.5 subs! 5 subs 5subs!
We will get destroyed by teams with a good bench if we don't have 1 aswell.
No point being able to bring on 5 players when the backup is Ojeda, Mighten, Lolley etc we need quality running through the club.
The best thing about this is Lingard could In theory run his bollox off until 55/60 or even 45 minutes, then swap for an equally good player who can do the same, we get 90 minutes then of full speed, full effort, full power AM rather than 60 minutes with 30 minutes blowing out the arse.
Yeah we could do with a few players to bring on that won't make the opponents laugh. With MGW being able to play multiple positions and 5 subs available every game now, I don't think accommodating all of them is going to be a problem. At worst, it's a nice headache for Cooper to have.

I've been thinking this for a while, it could almost be like Rugby is now with starters and finishers.5 subs! 5 subs 5subs!

Andy Dibble didn't laugh.Gary Crosby used to get a game because he could make BC laugh!
