Mikele Leigertwood

No wonder my post count..

Looks like we're after this bloke.

Sky Sports understands Nottingham Forest are lining up a move for former Reading midfielder Mikele Leigertwood.

Leigertwood is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Reading earlier this summer.

A number of clubs have shown an interest in Leigertwood, but Forest are thought to be leading the chase for the 31-year-old.

Leigertwood missed a large chunk of last season with an ankle injury, but returned to action at the back end of the campaign and he is fit and raring to go as he seeks a new club.

Forest boss Stuart Pearce is believed to be in the market for a defensive midfielder and he has identified Leigertwood as his top target.

Leigertwood has a wealth of experience having played in the Premier League for Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and Reading and Pearce feels he could be prove to be a key component to his squad for next season as he looks to mount a bid for promotion.

I've always liked this guy. Nothing fancy, hard-working and scores the odd cracker too.

Has experience and fits the holding role perfectly. Either if Vaughan gets injured, or if Pearce wants to play a couple in there at the same time.

If he's available on a free then what's to lose?

Im liking this chasing higher end championship players with nothing to prove yet still fight week in week out for the cause

Good business if we can get him.

I'd rather not sign anyone than fill up the squad with ageing, ordinary Championship players again.

These lads are beyond ordinary championship players though, plus a bit of experience wouldn't go a miss.

The same things are said whenever we bring in an experienced head and they've nearly always been a complete waste of money. Even the one's that do alright like McKenna get paid up and released a year early.

Considering we've got rid of four players who can play that CDM position, seems like a pretty good deal. He probably won't play over Vaughan but he's decent backup.

Always liked him and can challenge Vaughan for that role. Seems like Pearce is keen to sign a bit of experience. I just hope whoever comes in isn't over the hill and comes in with the right attitude

We do need cover for Vaughan.
Wasn't ML out injured for most of last season, Kelv style?

We are linked with munters Fryatt, Leigertwood and McAnuff are all same same good solid championship pros nothing more.

'munters'? Isn't this where we're going wrong, signing players that played in the Champions League for instance for big money and failing because of attitude issues and dressing room fractures that it helps cause? Worry about signing Prem players when we're, you know, in the Premier League? Getting ahead of ourselves again.
