From his own mouth:

“I could make excuses and say certain managers didn't pick me or played me out of position, but I think I have to hold my hands up and say I wasn't good enough.“

How can this be? Surely everybody knows it was the fans fault that he didn't play well, by complaining that 9 goal in 75 appearances wasn't a great return for £1m (plus however many millions more we paid him in wages and bonuses).

There's a statement of the blindingly obvious. I think there are a few thousand Forest fans who could have told him that.

In other news, newly capped Lars Veldwijk has come in for stick from the South African press and fans for being slow, useless in the air and unable to read the game. Sounds strangely familiar, though again, Forest fan's criticisms were entirely unjustified...

McGoldrick remains the only Forest player I have seen hit the windows in the Trent End midsection from outside the box.

(On the grand scale, though, Paul Wilkinson did actually put a ball in the river from the 6 yard line, open goal.)

Fair play to the lad.

Never rated him that much personally and he knows his limitations, very refreshing to hear a player saying it how it is.

There is hundreds and hundreds of the same ilk getting away with absolute murder stealing a fortune, weed them out and f*** 'em off.

Fodder.

Out of the current squad Ray, who would you say is worth a 10k/wk wage?

I have a feeling this thread is really tempting the gods of the returning player to bite us in the arse on Saturday.

No second division footballer is worth £10k per week for more than one season.
They either make the difference that gets you promoted or they are only another second division footballer.
Worse still i bet theres a few Division 3 players earning that much too.

I always felt McGoldrick had talent but we just couldn't get it out of him.

Maybe it was the pressure of playing for the club he supports, but he looked like he had stage-fright most of the time.

84 starts, 23 subs, 34 goals for Ipswich. For the type of player he was, I think that's a fair record.

If anything he's one of the few failures you could lay at Davies's door. Definitely a player which others have got more from.

Spoken like a typical non-second division footballer.

Was the victim of Billy's insistence that you need 6/7 strikers at the club at the same time. Garner/Earnshaw/Blackstock/Adebola/McGoldrick/Tyson. May have even missed one out.

Crazy when you think about it now really. All did different jobs but no need for that many.
