Max Lowe

Lowe isn't worth more than £2m, and even that is being generous. He'll probably end up going elsewhere for less than what we offered.

Richards and Toffolo are better, so I'm not even remotely bothered about missing out on Lowe personally.

This seems to have resurfaced today as Heckingbottomfeeder has been bleating on about our pathetic low offers, he's a complete and utter bellend.

I mean its not like we are trying to buy a guy who is not wanted by his current championship club having played for them a grand total of 8 times since they bought him and was also injured a fair bit throughout his loan period with us (Of the 39 league games he could have played, he missed about half due to injuries).

I like Lowe but their prick of a manager is going to do him out of the chance of playing in the Premier league.

Perhaps also its worth them remembering that they bought Jack Robinson from us for a pittance because of their Premier league status and similarly nicked Osborn for a low fee as well.

Yes, strangely in his quotes he seemed to be insulted that the bid wasn’t anywhere near the price they bought him for.

Just because they paid £6m, doesn’t make him a £6m lb.

See also, Burke, Brewster, Mcburnie etc and their woeful spending in general

Sheffield United signed Bogle and Lowe for a combined fee of £15m.

I'm not sure which of those players was considered more valuable but Sheffield United keep banging the drum that they'd signed Lowe for much more money than whatever has been offered to them so far.

Apparently they'll accept £5m. Which doesn't seem a bad deal considering the above.
They paid £7m for the pair according to this:

Bogle was the one they really wanted though, if I remember correctly.

Sheffield United have apparently turned down our offer as inadequate (a polite synonym for 'derisory'?). I wonder if you'll come back to him towards the end of the window if your other options for a bencher left back do not come through. He seems to want to leave Sheffield.
Inadequate is higher than derisory in the hierarchy of offers.

An inadequate offer does not meet the bar and falls short of a level that would suggest serious intent.

Derisory falls short by much more. In fact, derisory is the polite synonym for taking the piss.

It’s a shame for Lowe that his manager likes to open his mouth too much in public. It’s ok him saying our bid is derisory but as has been mentioned he’s had injuries and there isn’t a queue of clubs beating on his door about him.

Lowe for £5m or Toffolo for £2.5m? Sorry Max but it's a no brainer.

Sheffield Utds recruitment has been awful for about 3 years and they're trying to claw a bit of it back. No thanks at that price
Completely agree. I'd take Toffolo for £2.5m over Max Lowe for double or more than that all day long.

However if Cooper really likes Lowe and wants him, £5m would be the limit for me.

I really hate Heckingbottom. Every manager is paid to be one-eyed about their club and their interests but most keep it to themselves in the main. This guy is like a walking wind up/moaning machine without a filter. I hold him personally responsible for much of the bile and trouble relating to the SF-nearly all of which was completely avoidable.
We all enjoy the rivalries in football but this is another thing all together and I wouldn't be surprised if clubs shy away from doing business with Sheff U if they have to deal with this twerp...

Sorry but not even close to being worth that. Maybe those Blade pricks can ask Sean Bean for a loan to recoup some of their losses.😄

Agree with you. When Chris Wilder was in charge they didn't seem as unlikeable as they do these days.

From the outside, you felt he was alright, understanding, tried to play football the right way and could most likely do a decent deal.

Heckingbottom has created this us against the world routine like Billy Davies did with Forest. It might blow up in his face too.

Is it me or does everything about Heckingbottom just scream 'tinpot'?

He looks, and sounds like the kind of bloke who would look more at home managing a pub side on a Sunday morning. Can't put my finger on what is, perhaps the tracksuit and how thick he sounds when he speaks.

I don't think his name helps, a name like Heckingbottom just gives me northern, working class vibes. You'd never see someone called Heckingbottom manage manage City or Chelsea would you?

I could picture him and Cotterill yelling at each other because one of the subs who was also linesman cheated and didn't flag a player offside

What's wrong with being Northern and/or working class?

Heckingbottom may be a complete arse but that's got nothing to do with where and what he was born into.

Nothing but I suppose my point is that it's as if he's been dragged in off the street. A northern street...

It could be the Barnsley accent, I'm not saying the Nottingham accent is nice on the ears as I'd be lying but you could be a nuclear physicist with a masters in medicine and still sound thick as pigmuck if you're speaking in a Barnsley accent.*

*Apologies to anyone on here that may come from Barnsley...

Well, you might have a point about accents?

I mean, even Sir Isaac Newton, who was from rural Lincolnshire, had an accent.

And even a great man such as he, sometimes had to be edited, to account for his distinctive speech; indeed, in his Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica his original theorem: „I like them thicc…“ had to be edited to read „The greater the mass, the greater the force of attraction…“

Championship clubs need to squeeze the most from every deal, don't they?!

Lowe is clearly rated by Cooper and the club, every match he was passed fit for he was trusted. Cooper talks about the culture and players' character a lot, so he clearly has that too.

Is he worth £5m, potentially. Would we want more than £2m if the shoe was on the other foot, most definitely. It's tough not to love every member of last season's squad so I'd like him back, but it's tough to justify £5m against Toffolo's £2.5m - however, both of those sums are relatively small if it helps us progress in the Premier League.

Has he singed yet?
My Nottingham accent, as mild as it was, has been further diluted by living in the south for over 10 years. Steadfastly refuse to bow to pressure and say 'barth', 'parth' etc.

Some accents do make you think the person is less educated though, the West country accent for one.

Agree, I feel proud having Cooper as our manager and he sets the tone for the clubs standards. You can tell he is massively respected by many other players from teams as after match they are chating with Cooper on pitch. Under Davies it was thrilling at times but cringe other times. Cooper just oozes class.
