That was a tough chance... a sitter, according to twitter though.

Elanga's chance was much better.

I get the feeling a bit Yatesy goal is coming. He's gotten close quite a few times now.

Reaction on here was like he'd missed a glorious chance.

Incredibly hard chance to convert and probably would have been offside even if he'd stuck it in the net, but hey Yates isn't Danilo so it's ok to pile the criticism on.

For me the reaction was two fold - I was disappointed he was brought on in the moment and then to be presented with that chance the predictable occurred which only reinforced the previous feeling. Would have been a really nice goal if he were to finish (maybe next time bring it down and then slot it, Ryan?).

Either way, Elanga's miss was criminal and Nuno's thought in bringing Yates on was curious. IMO you bring Reyna on there to pair with MGW and really go after the game. Yates coming on was a bandaid on a deep gash.

Whilst in his cardboard box yesterday, my cat analysed the Forest performance. He doesn't blame the players or manager. When given a list to choose he decided to blame..

Very disappointing performance all told..went in with real hope an evolution West ham performance might really trouble Villa, alas we concede in no time & the rest was a Villa procession.

Im sure the inquest has run its course, but for all the eyecatching combinations we put together, there are a suicidal mistakes occurring that get punished every time at this level. That first half performance was certainly one of a team that ends up bottom three at the end of the season. Nuno climbs in to them at the break & we threaten, but Villa had 2 more gears in truth.

Getting done by Villa isnt the issue, its the recurring mistakes that gift goals. We're going off a cliff at the back, Felipe looks a shadow of the player & Murillo )who cost us 2 goals) doesnt get off the floor aerially & now his ground game is showing holes.

Sobering stuff this, Boly coming in sorts a few things, we missed Tavares, outside of that f*** knows.

Yates is a defensive midfielder

Expecting him to be Harry Kane in the box is a bit harsh
For all Yates flaws in the DM role, he's often absolved partially for his supposed threat in the oppo box. Can you call it a "threat" anymore given you'd need half an hour to list the glaring chances he's missed.

Sadly all our other midfielders cant put him out the equation as one of them presents weekly with a shit performance. Dominguez turn this week.

It aint Yates per se, its the defensive midfield clusterfuck thats Nottingham Forest.

A really poor performance. Our back 4 couldn't deal with the movement of Villa & the rest of the team weren't really much help in front of them. We rallied either side of half time but Villa always looked as though they had gears to go through if needed. Not that it was required as we gifted them a 4th to seal it.

6 defenders got on the pitch and it was difficult to give any of them a pass. Collectively & individually they were poor and barely won a one-on-one between them. Niakhate looked much better at CB in the 2nd half but spent the first half about 5 yards off the pace. Felipe looked like an old man with bad knees after a really positive performance v West Ham. Murillo went back to being something of a luxury centre back, typified by that nothing tackle in the build up to their first goal. Williams was useless bar the odd slide tackle to try & get himself out of trouble, Omobamidele came in and looked like a lad that spent a lot of last season on Norwich's bench & Toffolo was only marginally better than Moussa at LB.

I'm not sure Danilo/Dominguez is a midfield for a game where we're going to be under lots of pressure. Dominguez put himself about as normal and won a few tackles but was sloppy and struggled to handle their runners. Danilo was absolutely shite for 45 minutes and bar 1 or 2 performances, continues to have a pretty mediocre season.

The forwards had their moments, especially CHO who always looked a threat when we got him on the ball in good areas. Elanga's pace gave them a few scares and I felt Taiwo could've had success against their CB pair had we managed to get the ball into him more often. MGW took his goal really well after a nice ball from Origi. That said, it's difficult to play that system when a team like Villa are right at it, I felt we should've at least tried to drop MGW back a little to try & stem their flow.

Just watched today's ForestFocus podcast on youtube & someone in the chat actually blamed Matt Turner for Villa's 4th goal!!!
Said Andy messed up his pass cos he's so used to not being able to pass back to the keeper.
Uneffinbelievable :bristolfan:
Sometimes one has to assume they are being ironic to make a point.
And are you really admitting you read the comments posted during the podcast?
Really????

Well I can't spend the whole hour leching at Emily Anderson, I have to move my eyes occasionally

You’re a sick and disgusting human (I did the same and am scrambling to find an East Midlands today bbc segment with her)
