Matchday 2: Leeds United Fan Comments

It will be interesting to see how we set up against lesser teams but does anyone else feel, like me, that the season hasn’t started yet?

Half the team will have been changed by the beginning of November in my opinion, and probably for the better.
I believe we'll be hanging on in there for the first 10 games or so, and then we'll get better.
The big question is will we get better quick enough.

Could this be the first time in footballing history that both sets of supporters DID watch the same game?

In some respects they've been more complimentary about Forest than our forum has - the bastards. We'll have to applaud them on to the pitch at the CG - see how they like it.

Cheers Calvin. What did you do with their real comments?? lol.

I genuinely didn't see Robinson's late challenge as a penalty and so the ref got it spot-on in my opinion.

I've now watched the incident several times and can only conclude that Jack never takes his eye off of the ball as he attempts to make a clearance, despite the Leeds lad getting his leg there slightly ahead of him.

I feel the same, but I remember feeling that way in the season we finished 3rd under Davies. This game was on TV and I thought we were awful but we kicked on from there.

If we were in that position come the end of September this season, then we would have no end of people saying we are relegation certs and that the manager needs changing.

I just hope we get the first win against Brum to push us on as I'm not expecting much at Fulham. Again, don't take the opposition lightly, regardless of who we're playing and I'm sure we'll do fine.

There's Charlton between the two

I saw plenty of similar comments on twitter to be fair.

They should of had a red.
Their goal was offside.
In the build up to our goal, Grabben did foul their defender, but their defender to grab and pull him back first.
It was a shit goal.
Where Robinson cleared the ball through their lads leg it should have been a pen. None of the others were close to being a foul though.

I thought there was another when Dallas was felled in the box, but the TV replays showed it was a clear dive and should have been a Yellow for simulation - or is that a red?
The Robinson on Dallas having looked a few times was, to my mind more debatable than the Helda Costa incident.
Having watched that over and over it is clear that Costa made a meal of it, but Robinson clearly puts his hands onto Costa, inviting the pole-axed response from Costa.
To my mind that was a better shout than the kicked leg - 50-50 ball; Dallas having his foot well high, Robinson clearly fully committed to clearing the high-bouncing ball, which as a defender he was right to go for.
I was impressed by the Dirty Bastard Leeds Fans' comments though - they appreciate that the league is about blood and guts, and they are lacking in the latter.

That was Forshaw who flopped over. Definite yellow.

Robinson whacked Dallas in the leg, that’s certainly a penalty but the ref’s view was obstructed - the linesman however, surely a clear view.

Phillips’ tackle was similar to the one on Guediora he got a red for last season but 30 minutes into the new season, probably didn’t want to upset Leeds so early on.

Think it was 1 each on the debatable decisions. Thought the ref was good otherwise but there was only really the one bad tackle and not too much going on.

The tackle on Gueds was a bit higher from memory, with both feet off the floor. Definite yellow this time.

The comments on the referee's decisions.

Would you have preferred VAR or just accepted the ref's decisions?

Having seen VAR in action, despite my wholehearted criticism of referees in the past, I'm longing for the status quo to resume. At some time in the near future we're bound to get this stuff forced on us.

Let's get back to football and forget the interruptions of technology. We may have suffered from some awful decisions in the past, but what we are faced with now is worse, far worse.

In all fairness some of the decisions we had go against us last year, taken in isolation, stopped us making the play-offs.

Did you see the Lester Wolves one last weekend? No way on earth would I have given hand ball for that even after watching VAR back, cost Wolves 2 pts.

Having most possession is nice but it means f*** all at end of game, only stat that counts is who puts ball in onion bag most.
has for them moaning about Grabbans foul in build up to our goal, or kick by Robinson should been pan,
Phillips should seen red & there goal Bamford was offside, Swings & Roundabouts.

I won`t believe these are actual Leeds comments until i see something about us not selling all our allocation / seal clapping/ worse fans at ER since we last played there etc etc

No - I wouldn't want VAR.
The referee's authority is well undermined already, and VAR just about puts the tin hat on any semblance of respect for the officials.
I do not believe they go out to make game changing mistakes.
And before anyone mentions that there is a lot of money riding on winning, then they are missing the point: football is a sporting entertainment.
The money side is merely incidental.

The Wolves goal was disallowed because it technically "created a goalscoring opportunity" and the proximity of the header from the team mate doesn't matter because it created that chance - if it hadn't created a chance, it would be play on.

Probably the only part of the new rule that needs tweeking. The ball just dropped into the middle, Wolves player reacted first - Leicester player reacts first, it's then not a "chance". Dumb
