he's completely incapable of coaching a team that can defend

That does, sadly, appear to be the case.

He is in his 3rd season at QPR now since joining them in May 2019, and their defence is only marginally better than it was when he joined.

He's had multiple transfer windows to bring in new players which he has done but hasn't brought in too many who have improved matters.

It's been the same wherever he's been - with us, at Brentford, though his Rangers side did get promoted conceding around a goal a game, that was a Rangers side who were too good for that division.

Given he now does technically class as being an experienced manager it seems unlikely that he will ever improve on it unless he takes time if/when he is sacked by QPR for being unable to defend and works on strategies for his next job.

Took over a side fighting relegation.

Had to sell tons of their best player.

Rebuilt on a very modest budget, funded by said sales.

Now has them within 3pts of the playoffs.

"Shit manager" :suicide:

He simply won't be better than he is until his defensive record improves.

No doubt he has left every club in a better situation than the one he inherited. Brentford and Rangers of course he got promotion, QPR would never have been play off contenders under previous managers but he has improved them, and though we were more of a mess than we should have been under Monty he kept us up and we weren't really looking like we were in danger of struggling the season after.

Though I do wonder even if he was still here now if we would have a good defence. I suppose it's different when you have the likes of Smith, Henderson, Mancienne, Mills to make a defence out of, but he did have a summer to sign people and chose Cummings and McKay.

He's not a bad manager but he's not really going to get a side promoted from the CH until he improves the defensive side.

I go early shopping these days (a relic of the early covid days when they had a hour just for OAPs) and there is always a Warburtons van delivering as I pull into the car park.

I think only of football at that moment, never about bread. Funny how some minds work.
