Motherwell manager Craig Brown admits his ability to strengthen his squad this summer depends on the sale of prize asset Mark Reynolds. And he has revealed he would love to see the talented defender snapped up by his good friend Billy Davies at Nottingham Forest. Reynolds has one year left on his contract and has been linked with Rangers and Newcastle in the past, as well as a switch to the City Ground, but Brown says there have been no bids yet.

"Mark wants to progress his career and he has been very good to Motherwell," said the Fir Park boss.
"He was an ever-present and missed just one game in the last two seasons, the last game of last season at Ibrox.
"Mark Reynolds deserves the best move he can get and the club is supportive of his move because it would benefit the club financially but also because it would benefit Mark and he has been such a good servant here.
"But we have not had one official enquiry to the club for him. His agent is working on it. We would lose a terrific player but it would give us funds to strengthen the team.
"Without Mark going, we can't sign anyone. That's it in a nutshell."
Brown has made tentative steps to establish whether Davies - who was his assistant at Preston - is interested in Reynolds and backed the 23-year-old to be a hit if he did win a move to Forest.
He said: "Billy Davies is on holiday in the USA. Billy and I are very friendly and he hasn't discussed Mark with me.
"That doesn't mean to say that he won't when he comes back from his break but he hasn't so far.
"I've heard that story too so I sent him a text message yesterday to see what was happening and whether he was interested. I think he gets back from his holiday tomorrow.
"It's just so I can say to the player that there is an interest in him. Mark deserves that, there is no finer guy.
"I think Nottingham would be excellent for him. I know their two centre-backs and I think he's at least as good or better than them, that's my considered and humble opinion.
"He would strengthen Nottingham Forest in my opinion but I'm not picking Billy's team for him as Billy would tell you.
"We are good friends and he knows what I think of Mark Reynolds and we have very seldom differed on the opinion of a player. We still agree on the quality of a football player."
Meanwhile, Brown has put reports linking him with Charlton goalkeeper Darren Randolph down to the player's agent.
He explained: "I think it's his agent trying to promote things. That's what happens.
"When the agent phones and asks if you're interested and you don't say no, he thinks you're going to sign him. I didn't deny interest in him but that doesn't necessarily mean we are signing him."

Could we do with another centre-back of the Kelv/Wes pedigree? Well, given that the cover is currently Chambers, I'd say yes and that's no disrespect to him. Ideally we want someone who can step up in every position and were Wes/Kelv to be sidelined, if we don't have cover we're using Chambo and Bennett or Lynch in their positions, which is not ideal.

Given that we seem to have the money for any appropriate player if the price is right, this might be something Billy looks at. In fact them being mates I doubt Brown would be shootng his gob off without knowing Billy's feelings on the lad.

Has he singed yet?
Billy Davies categorically states he isn't interested in him in todays Evening Post. He also says not much we didn't know about Shorey. (if he's available, he wants him)

I have spoken to Craig to clarify that he is not somebody we are interested in," said Davies.

"He may be a decent player, but he is not on our list of targets.

"I think Craig was asking the question over whether we would be interested and 'no' is the answer
