What I do accept though is that if he's not properly in shape, for whatever reason, he probably shouldn't be starting games

You know it's almost as if people with physical injuries can't exercise as much
Admittedly that is also a factor and the club should be on top of that stuff, it's mad that a professional footballer who has 24/7 access to doctors, physios, dietitians, fitness coaches etc. can be allowed to put that much extra weight on, injured or not.

The reason this has hit a nerve with me a bit is because my uncle had thyroid problems which he managed pretty well and didn't put on any weight until he broke his leg in a car accident, at which time he piled on stones and was pretty unrecognisable after only about six months

Even after the cast came off and he was back running he could never get up the intensity to get the weight off and suffered mentally as a result

I know people like to look at someone and go "you've put on weight, just eat less and go exercise" but it's no way as simple as that

Absolutely. Any frustration I had with him today was not directed at him, or his abilities. But the fact we threw him in when he clearly shouldn’t have been out there.

Sorry to hear that mate and that's why I said in my first post if he has a hormone problem then it's out of his control and he has my sympathy but at the same time if he does there's no way he should be playing professional football at the moment.

No I agree he probably shouldn't be near the first team

And had Krovinovic been available today I dare say he wouldn't have been

How do you know there isn't?

Personally I'd wait until I knew what the situation is before coming out with that last sentence.

Well I'll be waiting a long time as communication from the club has gone back to being poor.

Maybe there's a medical justification for all our players being shit. Who knows.

Some of the most talented players I’ve played against have been fat big fucks who just stand in the centre circle and ping it

Take all the set pieces also

But that’s at my level obviously

Knockaert looked to have a little podge belly at times today but obviously I am in no way comparing him to freeman

Still though he’s never going to be a racehorse but does need to trim some of that weight down

To be fair it is as simple as that for 99% of the population before 50/60 years of age

Not taking into account medical issues obviously but in regards to metabolic issues in reality a good diet with controlled exercise will see you get in better shape

A professional footballer shouldn’t be overweight abs the fact they are spoon fed everything including medical expertise I think they would know if Luke Freeman has a thyroid issue of something of that ilk

When I first saw Reidy as a Youngster playing for the Reserves, and watched him drop his shoulder and glide past defenders he reminded me very much of Robbo.
He was a very talented lad and you could see that he had potential.

Freeman has always been a bit large, look at this from when the fatbum was at Stevenage in 2013...

Reid was class when at his fighting weight. Was a bit less class when he let himself go at times.

Freeman has been at the pies and has gone from decent to gash. Stop eating so much ya fat ****

Medical issues?! Give me a break

Either way, with Krovinovic having signed, I suspect we won't be seeing much of Freeman in the team. Another singing lauded by some (for years in fact) that has been a huge disappointment.

That's as maybe.

But what if you're saying to the Recruitment Team. " We need to get someone out the door even if we have to take the hit financially on it "What if you are saying " I need replacement in that area and you are maybe being told. We have Luke Freeman and you are not utilising him "

I am not saying this is happening but what if he is meeting resistance in getting shot of him because the Club don't want to take a Financial Hit on it.

Sometimes you may just have to find another way to say " Look that's the tools I am trying to work with "

No one knows if what I am suggesting is true or not but sometimes you just have to hold up a mirror to the Recruitment Failures for it to be truly seen to be believed.

Regardless of any weight issues he may or (more likely in my opinion) may not have, you do know why Freeman has been absent for the last couple of months....don't you??

Looked fairly mobile to me.

Andy Reid was tubby, Robbo too - not always such a problem.

I'm hoping he gets fit enough to guide us to safety.

Even when Reid (& Tomlin more recently) looked like they were carrying a bit extra they still had that bit of sharpness in tight spaces. They weren't gonna sprint past a full back over 25 yards but they could open up a yard or two to work the ball. Yesterday, Freeman moved like he was piggy-backing another fat lad on his back.

If you’ve got a player who is an accomplished passer of the football, they don’t need the pace of Usain Bolt, because they make the ball do the work, as all great players do.

Robbo and Reidy were two players who could drop a ball onto a team-mate‘s instep from great distance. Forest don’t have that kind of Player anymore, Reidy himself was probably the last one.

Such players, especially at Championship Level, are at a premium. So it goes with pacy players as well, who can stretch an opposing side and create space for others.

Nathan Tyson was never the most technically gifted footballer but he had lightning pace that defenders struggled to cope with, and it allowed him to drag them about and create space for others.

Forest don’t have Team Speed, and they don’t have any really good passers either, which negates completely two very useful attacking options.

As a result, the side are one-paced, pedestrian, and so, so, easy to play against.

Watson was a good passer from the base of midfield, both long and short. The fact we can't get the wi gers involved properly is that defences are set before the ball gets near them because it takes 5 passes. Added to the fact everyone needs at least a touch before passing it on. That was what I liked about Bash against Swansea. He just moved it on first touch. Makes massive difference.
