Big fan of the player, Coopers gone for a clear physical bias over creativity, so LOBs game time has suffered. Id like to think that could be redressed at some point should we start to get our feet under the table.

That said, the concession stats with Lewis starting dont read that well, think its 15 goals in 6 games. He has looked lightweight & struggled to compensate with his creativity.

I agree with you that Cooper is preferring physicality now its plain we're not going to outplaying anyone. I think LOB suffered early on by playing in a 2-man midfield, usually against a 3. And usually with different partners who are new to it all themselves.

I think once he fully recovers from his virus (if he hasn't already) he'll look more comfortable in a 3 man midfield, particularly if the rest of the side gains confidence.

Going to print and frame this

This is obvious stuff and part of the building process. Don’t think you’ve won some sort of point here. Colback was the best option available when we needed that sub against Chelsea. Yes we want better options off the bench going forward. None of that changes the fact that pretty much everything you say is barking up the wrong tree

So given he wasn't in the match day squad last night it seems that LO'B has indeed fallen down the order with the arrival of Scarpa. He'll get some game time v Blackpool I expect so hope he takes the chance to impress.

Corberan wants to take him to West Brom on loan apparently. Probably for the best right now if we can get someone in - can't see where he fits and he needs regular games to get back to where he was (and hopefully kick on).

I don't think it would be too hard to get an upgrade in - he's not the answer but young Billy Fewster was better than him yesterday.

Edit: out of interest why two? Because of Kouyate's injury?
Yeah because of Kouyate.
Clearly the plan was to have 2 first team options for each position.
If LOB leaves we have Yates, Freuler, Mangala and Colback (at a push, although he is also not looking great as a starter).
Having said that, I personally wouldn't be against trying Scarpa out in the Mangala role. His range of passing is far beyond anyone else at the club imo.

A loan would probably do him good but as has been said it would need us to bring at least 2 midfielders then.

To be honest with all these outgoing rumours I'm expecting a real shake-up of the squad this month. Hopefully it's quality as well as quantity we bring in.

We can't shake things up too much though.
Cooper's still trying to build that 'club culture' so letting a bunch go and getting a bunch of new lads in is going to set us back way too far. It'll be like starting again from August.

Get him on loan in the championship. Then if we go down he’ll be full of confidence for next season and will be good for us. If we stay up and he has a good season we’ll probably look to offload him for a reasonable fee and get someone better in.

For me in the premier league he’s not physically good enough and seems a bit of soft character. He’s not good enough technically either to make up for it.

Having said that I feel sorry for him as he’s obviously rusty and not played enough lately.

We can't loan out all the reserves, just got to hope that he again becomes a decent midfielder to keep on the bench.
While I agree with the sentiment, I'm not sure that's going to happen without a decent run of games though - the illness thing has clearly set him back so in this case I think a loan might best all round.

If we can land another midfield option-or-two I completely agree that a loan would benefit him to help rebuild his strength following the illness and, in turn, his form. In my opinion, there is a good footballer there who may possibly be able to eventually make the the step-up.

Things not really clicking for him. Just watched the 'highlights' from yesterday. First goal be heads the ball back into the danger area!

It's harsh, because there's a good player somewhere in there and one who can be a really useful for us. But, he's had two big chances in recent games. Valencia - gives the ball away, they break and score. Blackpool - careless header and they score. These will not go unnoticed by Coops. With Kouyate injured, we have no choice but to keep him. But I would say he's very much viewed as a squad player now. He'll have more chances but when they come he'll have to take them and play his way back into contention if he's to flourish at Forest. Or anywhere in the top flight for that matter. Step up or ship out.

I don't think he's ready for the intensity of the EPL, tidy enough player and well proven at the level below but I think this has been a step too far for him at this point

If Cooper doesn't have a plan for him he'll be shipped out (on loan hopefully), he won't be kept around to make up numbers if Cooper doesn't trust the player to deliver what's expected

We need squad players.
Every EPL club needs squad players.
If we had 20 first team players at least 5 of them would be handing in transfer requests right now.
No point getting rid of everyone who isn't ready for regular first team starts

We need squad players that can be trusted to impact games, Cooper isn't going to want to be relying on players that aren't upto the task

I think a fit and firing LOB can effect games at this level - he proved that earlier in the season pre-illness.

If the rumours that Corberan wants him for West Brom are true, and I would really expect them to be given how well he had him playing at Huddersfield, that seems like an ideal move to get him back to the levels we need - he's been unfortunate in that his season seems to have been derailed, but I'd rather him go and get right with a view to coming back in the summer as I don't see us affording him the game time to come good this year.
