Heads up for you. Just went to get tickets for the Lesta game, popped into the club shop and kenny was in there signing books. Got the european cup with him! :D

The book is an absaloute brilliant read and I'd strongly recommend it not just to fans of teams for whom he played but to anyone who likes football or sport in general.

Does anyone know how long he'll be in there for?

He was having his picture taken with a couple of RAF corporals.

Quite why they were in uniform I have no idea, but that's crabs for you.

Aye ? Not many parcels. To be fair though, for most fans going via public transport, it's not the easiest thing to carry ! If anyone wants to donate but couldn't at the game, the Sun and most other papers usually do a collection before sending them out there for xmas !

They had a dozen boxes or so and a few folks, like me, had taken bags of sweets and things.

I guess if people have friends/relatives out in action they will know they can get stuff sent by other means... a nice idea, but perhaps didn't quite hit the mark.

Either way, if it cheers up just a dozen or so folks out in inhospitable places and situations then it was probably worth the effort.

My dad and I got there at about 2.20 and he'd turned into Duncan Mackenzie....

It's a poor show really. I've covered several of these Afghan Christmas parcel collections and it's not uncommon for individuals to rack up 200+ boxes to send out.

Forest as a club should be aiming a little higher.

The public are fantastic to the forces. In 2003 I had a box sent to me in Iraq filled with goodies. Everyone got one and there were a fair few left to forward to other chaps. We get a lot of businesses sending bits. Libraries have a habit of sending old books which are always especially welcomed (although less B20 books would be good :D)

Although if anyone wants anyone to send Forest goodies to next year, I'll PM you my address :D

Was this advertised on the club site or anything? It's the first I've heard of it but I haven't really been checking much on the official site other than when Shorey signed.

Forest did support the guys who'd organised it but weren't the organisers themselves... it was on all the fan sites (and indeed, on a sticky thread on this forum)...

Fair enough. It's the first I'd heard of it, which I suppose is part of the problem, but I suppose every little helps.

Yeah, tricky to get word out.

It wasn't the most obvious thing - but yeah, even if there's just a dozen folks have a more cheerful day as a result then it's worth it.

Felt a bit bad for them as they'd organised up to 3 vans, and well, could've made do with an old skool mini in the end.

Same, and I didn't know about Kenny Burns' book signing either. Did the club not send an email out about either thing?

Dunno about the book signing, but the club didn't organise the box-collection.
