Carvalho rightly getting the plaudits, thought Pele ran him a close second though.

Without appreciating what he's brought so far, penny dropped today, he cut out the unforced errors & looked a real force going forwards. Thoroughly enjoyable box to box performance with a great eye for a pass. Boro gave us the freedom of midfield & Pele took good advantage of the space.

Think this bloke will grow into a big player for us given the chance.
Agree with this Pele looked really good, tbh everyone did.

Excellent performance and bossed the midfield. The improvement is very noticeable, people forget that it takes time to adjust to this league

We played it on the floor, it suited him. He’s clearly a good player, said on another thread I would be happy to see him back.

Interesting to see him getting so much game time. Wonder if that signifies anything for next season? :dunno:

I think he needed game time for us to figure out if there's a player worth keeping around as much as anything. The fitter he's got, the more he looks like he could be decent in this league.

Same with Wague, although I think I'd take Pele over Wague as we won't be needing another defender next season.

I would take both as I think we will be needing another defender next season.
Sad as it will be I have a suspicion that we could well accept a decent money bid from Rangers for Worrall, and it is not likely (in my opinion - f*** being humble)that we will sign Sam Byram.
Also, I think Wague showed he is a good fit for the right-side centre-back in a 3-man back line, plus he is a real danger in the opposition's penalty box attacking the high crosses.
Dawson is going to be at best a bit-part player (if he actually is able to recover fully from his hamstring injury), and Benalouane looks like he could be unavailable for intermittent periods of the season while he is suspended!
As for Pele, he could be a class act at this level, and in the Premiership the season after next.
We are not certain to sign Colback - he is a mercenary sort, reputed to be holding out for big wages, and I believe he has another year on his Newcastle contract at >£40k per week (please correct me if I am wrong about this).
I can't see Forest matching that, and I think he would cut his nose off to spite his face and stay at Newcastle and going out on loan wherever, just to preserve his £40k weekly gross.
Given his outstanding performances this season at this level I could see one of the parachute payment clubs going for him and paying him what he wants.
Mind you, I doubt Pele will come cheap!

Indeed, and especially with Worrall returning. The likelihood is that we'll need to shed a couple of centre-backs. Benalouane, Dawson, Hefele, Figueiredo, Milosovic, (potentially) Robinson, Worrall and Wagué would be overkill.

I wish I had your confidence over the return of JW - I think Rangers will throw money at us to sign him on a permanent.
Of the others there:
Benalouane is one I'd keep for special occasions, when we are up against dirty physical bastards who dish out the aggression, but he lacks the silky skills to merit a place as a regular. He is Mr Hoof-ball in my opinion.
Dawson - I still think his career is over. At Hull he had a long term injury (knee?) and with us he has had this hamstring thing, and at his age hamstrings tend to stiffen up and recovery is not so easy as in a younger player. I do appreciate Dawsons skills and quality as a player and a leader, but I am not sure we will be able to rely on him for more than a handful of games - I hope I am wrong!
Hefele - dog meat factory for him. Even Karanka who brought him in realised he was not of the required standard.
Figuerido - his career with us has been patchy so far, and he has had 2 injuries that have kept him sidelined for lengthy periods. When he was match fit and acclimatised to the competitive spirit of the Championship he looked good, but not as good as...
Milosovic - quality player and just made for a back 3. Authoritative and skilful he is for me our best centre-back.
Robinson - if we don't recruit Colback I think Robinson should be our regular captain. Left side of a 3... natural.
Worrall - ok so he is doing well in the Scottish Premiership (or Division 3, North, as I prefer to call it). Should an offer of north of £6m come in for him from Rangers, I'd take it as he struggled in the Championship before going to Scotland, and I have question marks over his pace at this level. I'd sell!
Wague - has impressed and concerned me in parts. Monday, v Boro, he had a fine game, and he poses a threat when we have a corner - 2 goals - both good headers.
So, overall I think I would shift Hefele out, use Dawson as and when he is really fit but expect him to be out more than he is in, use Benalouane sparingly, keep Milo, Robbo and Wague, and keep Worrall unless a sizeable bid comes in for him from the heathens beyond Hadrian's Wall.

Colback is out of contract in the summer, hence the supposition we are in pole-position to sign him (we aren’t, because I don’t believe we will, or can, afford the wages he wants - unless we offer a lengthy contract of something like five years?)

Id go with Milosevic, Figueredo, Worrall, Wague & Robinson.

Assuming Dawson is done & we're going 3 at the back.

Thanks - I thought that was the case, but someone at the game yesterday said Colback had another year to go.
I need to employ a fact-checker but as Facebook is discovering they are rarer than 20-goals a season strikers!

Are you a Celtic supporter Captain or do you just hate all Scots?

If Rangers did offer £6m or more for Worral, would you not take it?

If it meant we were in a better position to sign some of Wague, Colback and Pelé, then, yes.

I'm sure we were supposed to have had an agreement in place with Colback to sign at the end, obviously means very little as nothing was signed.

I hate no-one.
Life's too short for hate.
But I don't rate Scottish football as an entity.
There have been some brilliant individual Scottish players (and then there has been the likes of Cummings!), but the ones that are any good make it to the English leagues where proper competitive football is played.
And the Scottish leagues are where none-Scottish players who aren't quite up to the English leagues go for their career.
And some of my best friends are Scottish - but I don't have many friends

Think Wague has had some poor games(remember Ipswich). His early goals papered over the cracks. If he's expensive we could do better, cheaper.

We have too many CBs, Wague has been fine in my eyes but when you have players like Worrall & Figuerido coming back there is no point in signing him.

It's funny how Yates was allowed by Boro 'giving us the midfield' to make him look good but Pele and Carv just tore them apart with no mention of this.

The previous game v Sheff U, Yates got slated but was far better than Pele...
