This probably means that we will sell Gabriel then if Yilmaz comes in too? A shame as he looks to have good potential

This may mean that we aren't signing Yilmaz. Doesn't make sense to sign two right backs, it would make more sense signing one right back and have Gabriel/Richardson as back up.

Hopefully this lad is over his injury from last season. If so, it feels like a more sensible signing than splashing out on an injury prone player like Yilmaz.

It's all gone quiet on the LB front which i'm hoping means we're finalizing a deal with someone, all the rumours seem to be links with RBs now. Would be true Forest style if we sign another RB to play at LB

I imagine given we’re not signing a ‘proven’ right back that means Gabriel won’t be leaving. This is likely cover and competition for the place, allowing Richardson to go on loan again?

Whilst I agree with the reasoning, this lad only played in 9 games last season, so his injury record 'aint great either.

Tutu is far too exciting a scoreline for this club.

I am hoping the club have done their homework on his injury last season and that it was just a bit of back luck with injuries rather than anything else (I haven't heard of any problems before that).

Even if it is a choice between two injury prone players, I'd rather we went for the loan signing than the one that will cost a seven figure fee and end up occupying the treatment table for the duration of his 3+ year contract.

And had ankle surgery over the summer.

Even better

All Hughton's targets so far served a purpose and were fairly reliable. Murray was old and declining, but still fit enough to play a part in most games if needed. The rest were fit the majority of the time they were here. Jordi doesn't strike me as someone he'd go for.

Sorry, but if these are Dane's target's they're a bit worrying. I really hope we haven't put someone else in a position who's gonna hinder rather than help the manager yet again.

It’s not untoward that a player would have surgery in the close season. I’m sure the club will put him through a thorough medical.

Looks like a decent signing if it happens.

To sign one RB with a poor injury record is dangerous, signing two would be totally Forest. Hopefully just one and we keep our academy lad as cover.

Dude, his injury record is awful.......

It was only in April that Osei-Tutu finally returned to the pitch following five months out.

The right-back initially picked up a minor hamstring problem in mid-October, but after a one-game absence, he seemingly aggravated the issue in his next appearance, suffering a much more serious hamstring injury.

It only got worse in January, when the 22-year-old had a setback in his recovery, reinjuring himself. He returned to training in March, rejoined the squad on April 10th, made two substitute appearances towards the end of the month before picking up his fourth injury.

He's only been back in training a week. He probably wouldn't even be fit to cover until Sep at the earliest.

In fairness Jordan Gabriel's injury record isn't much better, in fact it's probably worse. Just got to hope they're young enough to bounce back.

But why would we want 2 injury prone players in that position? Surely the point in us signing someone there is to have someone more reliable & experienced so we can bring Gabs on sensibly? :dunno:

Again, we're back to the nature of loans. I can see the sense persisting with Gabs, even if he gets injured again any progress he still makes and any subsequent sale benefits the club. But what do we get out of getting Jodri fit? Nowt.

We'll see, like I say I wouldn't expect a player who's been out for so long to be anywhere near ready for 90 min for a few months yet. It's just a strange one if true, but obv Dane may know something we don't.

Just madness. We have Gabriel at the same age who performed well and stayed fit to swap him for Arsenal's injury prone RB of the same age. It's a LB we need FFS.

Should Arsenal agree to a request to loan this lad, I very much doubt he'll be subject to a Fawaz-type 10-minute, budget medical.

It’s not clear whether it will be a permanent deal or another loan

Now I reasonably priced permanent move would make more sense if the injuries are under wraps. If it does take him a few months to get fully fit, at least we're investing time & effort in a player we'll benefit from in later seasons too.

But it is still a concerning injury record.

Maybe, just maybe, Osei-Tutu is a better player than Jordan Gabriel? But either way, if Gabriel is the starter, why would you bring in someone you know is worse than your starter just for the purposes of depth? How does this bring competition to the squad?

I think we will see a lot of loans like this due to the impact COVID has had on everyone in the league. From what my Arsenal supporting mate told me, he loves to get forward, is a very good dribbler and has an eye for an assist and the odd goal. They had high hopes for him at Arsenal but last season was a train wreck with injuries.
