It's a completely pointless loan as well, unless he's joining them for longer than 7 days as their backup keeper (which again might be pointless).

Building goodwill by helping other clubs in their time of need is never pointless. Particularly when Fawaz damaged so many relations.

Once he plays on Saturday he's then played for two clubs this season, and therefore will be unable to play for any other club until August.

I don’t think emergency loans count towards it.

I agree and Barnsley are a decent club for us to send players to on loan in thre future. They try and play football as best they can with their limited budget and they always have a young squad. Their chairman seems a decent bloke and it may grease the wheels for any other gems they have. The likes of Hourihane, John Stones etc spring to mind.

To back this up, from the Barnsley CEO

Barnsley chief executive Gauthier Ganaye has paid tribute to Nottingham Forest after the Reds allowed Jordan Smith to move to Oakwell on an emergency loan.

The Tykes were suffering from something of a goalkeeping crisis ahead of this weekend’s game against Accrington Stanley, but that problem appears to have been alleviated by the signing of Smith.

Barnsley are without number one Adam Davies who is away on duty with Wales, while Jack Walton has picked up a knee injury, leaving them short of options between the sticks.

Smith, who last played for Forest against Bury in the Carabao Cup in August before being sent off shortly after the half-hour mark, will spend the next seven days in south Yorkshire and goes straight into Daniel Stendel’s squad for tomorrow’s game at the Crown Ground.

"Firstly we’re really thankful to Nottingham Forest for allowing us to take Jordan on loan, they’ve helped us out when we needed it,” Ganaye told the club website.

“We’re really pleased to be able to bring in a goalkeeper with Jordan’s experience at such short notice and we look forward to welcoming him into the squad.

“It’s really unfortunate that both our senior goalkeepers are unavailable at once, but these situations can happen in football. We have an important game this weekend and we’ll be backed by another superb away contingent, I know Jordan is looking forward to seeing that already.”

I remember when they charged us £25 in the awAy end as they sold tickets in the home end for £5. Earlier that season we charged a tenner for all tickets at the CG against them and charged their fans a tenner too.

With that in mind we should have sent them Henderson!!

Apparently he had a good game, with an important save early on.

I’m sure I’ve seen that save before somewhere

Dani Pinillos came home on for them as well. Just needed Luca, Dimutru and Bendtner to complete the nightmare.

Has he been in a squad since his sending off?
How does that work - did we name him as a selection that couldn't start the next game or is it only for the cup games he's suspended ?

He was suspended for games he wouldn’t have played in anyway.

Not sure if it was 1 or 3 given that it was a professional foul.

Brother is a Barnsley fan and he went today. His summary of him sounds very familiar.

"Made a couple of good saves, flapped at a few corners. Kicking was ok but general distribution was too slow"

After a couple of days training, not too shabby.

We all know exactly what he offers. Outstanding shot stopper, distribution needs a lot of improvement. Hopefully that can be coached because he has the natural reflexes which can't.

Has there ever been a keeper whose distribution or coming for crosses hasn't been criticised? It's almost like it's not the keepers but the unrealistic expectations that are the problem.

Where's me hammer?
Do you not think that playing in a new team might affect his distribution or his dealing with crosses.

No i dont, you find out what colour shirt your new team is playing in and you kick the ball to that player, thats not hard at all... neither is the decision to come for crosses being team dependant.. set pieces maybe but as a pro that wouldnt take him long to sort.

A keepers first objective is a clean sheet, he got one.

Correct, i think the loans good for him, get out, get game time, get the cup game out his system and learn his trade... id extend it to as long as possible if hes gonna play week in week out... win win for us and him imo.

Then get him back in and get him competing for that shirt, hes still relatively young for a keeper and hes one that i expect will eventually become our number One certainly if the AK project fails.

The reality is people don't understand how hard it is to come out for crosses, especially when you come out for it and miss it it's almost an automatic goal.
