Hope he finds a club to last him till the end of his career. He'll never be a millionaire but he should make enough to set him up in retirement.

He's already well on his way to being. £3k a week at Forest for the last 5 years give or take is a pre-tax income of £650k.

Another contract similar to what he's just had and a reasonably sensible investment strategy for excess money and he'll probably have closing on £1.5m wealth by time he retires from playing.

Probably not enough money nowadays to fully retire on at 40 though, so will likely need to do some coaching or something.

Cheers for keeping us in three Championship smudge, who knows where we would be without that save.

Not many players over the last decade or so leave here with any sort of pride in tact, so there's that too.

No bad words, hope he finds a club where he can be a first team regular. Welcome back at the CG anytime for me.

Surprising quite small in person, dwarfed by our under 13s goalkeeper a few years back. Came across as a top guy and will be remembered not just for that save but getting us out the shit a few times.

Good luck and thank you.

Will always hold a special place in the hearts of fans for that amazing save against Ipswich. Truly a sliding doors moment as sinking back down into League One at that point would have been even more of a disaster than the last time.

Would be nice to see him finally get consistent first team game time somewhere.

Good lad, think he would be fine to have as a 3rd choice GK in the EPL tbh, especially given his low wages and homegrown status, but can't begrudge him going out to find somewhere he can actually play, been a good servant to the club and best of luck to him

I'm not overly convinced.

He has been around the club for a long time now and by all accounts has the right attitude but in reality he just isn't a very good keeper.

He looked Ok at the time he started playing in the first team but at that point he was up against Mad Vlad who was an international keeper but a bit erratic and Henderson who was injured anyway and also a bit shit. Warburton played him because he didn't give a shit about the defence anyway which probably didn't help Smith either. As soon as Karanka came in he saw Pantilimon, Kapino, Steele as improvements... And then in the O'Neill and Lamouchi days we brought in Muric and Samba then DIallo and Horvath. That's a reasonable number of keepers most of whom are shite to keep Smith away from the team.

Most 2nd choice keepers in the PL do little - it's not a position which is frequently rotated, so the designated 1st choice usually plays. We saw this with Henderson and then when he got injured we got Navas in, as opposed to allowing the capable 2nd choice to have a run in the team. So a 3rd choice will necessarily play less, but then, this too is possible if 1st and 2nd choices are both out - Obviously the occasion where Chelsea got both Cech and Cudicini knocked out in the same match a few years back was a freak, but you'd doubt Hilario would have been expecting to play much. But he was capable enough

I think considering most of us were cacking it at the possibility of him playing vs Stoke in the CH or whatever - and that we always seemed to let in plenty even when he covered Samba - means it seems unlikely that Smith being involved in a PL game would be anything other than a bit messy.

There's little room for sentiment and this is exactly the kind of deal and exactly the kind of contract we shouldn't renew because the club has moved on. Ideally next season we'd get in a good 1st choice and another to make Hennessey 3rd.

3rd choice keeper should be an u21. No point having a space taken for someone who will never play.

Played well under Warburton, coincidentally the only time he's had a decent run in the side.

Decent shot stopper & took his crosses, suffered a little with his distribution & probably didnt command his box enough. Iron those out & he could do a job for someone.

All the best.

Lovely fella, never complained about his lot, and never let Forest down when called upon.

Anyone who saw that save, and knows its importance, should be prepared to buy the lad a drink if you see him out and about.

Considering where the club is now I reckon that one save alone was well worth the 650k.

Smith is always welcome down the CG for me, seems like a decent lad and has been at the club since he was a kid so fair play to him. He might be several levels below where we are now but he's lived the dream.

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
For some reason I thought that we had already sold him to Huddersfield. Maybe that was on FIFA?

We loaned him because Nicholls was broke but they got the other lad from Oly and still had a young reserve so he didn't even make the bench much.

I shown my lad that save a few weeks back and I don't think the video justifies how good it was... I was kind of sat in line with it and the way it moved from the deflection and he still got to it I just don't think the video justifies it.

I think that's a good move for him.

It should guarantee him some game time which we all know he desperately needs, and it'll be with a club who are on an upward trajectory and who already have a very decent defensive record having only conceded 37 in the league last year.

Watched them a couple of times last year. They are a good side and will most likely be challenging for promotion again. If he can get himself in the starting XI it might be the making of him. I hope it works out for him.
