"He joined Forest for free on deadline day in January, 11 days after his Newcastle team-mate Wood had made the journey south, signing a contract until 2025 on a salary of upwards of £60,000 per week."

"The proposed transfer fee is understood to be small, but Shelvey is expected to earn around £70,000 a week at the City Ground."

So the transfer fee could also be £0, which means the only effect on FFP of terminating his contract was to save £60-70k per week in this year's figures.

Even if the transfer fee was £6m, that's still amortised over 2 FFP periods as we "terminated" him in Sept (so one month into 23/24 FFP calculations). It could be a 100% good move from Forest, or worse case the amortisation has gone from £2m, £2m, £2m to £3m, £3m.

edit: it actually doesn't affect amortisation for 22/23 FFP at all, so is a completely irrelevant discussion to the current FFP situ. We will have amortised £2m for 22/23 as planned (worse case if his fee was £6m), and then we "terminated" him in Sept which falls into 23/24 FFP calculations, so will be a £4m amortisation for 23/24 which whilst not ideal, still doesn't currently matter.

Probably a coincidence, but if we did terminate his contract in September and therefore added £4m to the 23/24 FFP calculations, we "sold" Biaconne to Olympiacos at a similar time, Biaconne initially cost us around £5m. If we paid 50% of Jonjo's salary to leave, that's around 750k to the FFP hit.

This one is a bit of a nothing-burger, albeit maybe quick decisions were needed with the maximum loan situation. Either way, we did;t want him on the books for two years I would argue.

Maybe he went back in time and assassinated John Robertson, thereby preventing the goal that won us European Cup #2

Although if he did he wouldn't have been there to cross it in for Francis to win us the first either

Well, there you go. FIFA might still be interested, but there, I’m sure the right kind of envelope can deal with that.

Bit embarrassing that nobody at Forest can count to seven, though.

Robertson

Viv Anderson
So the seven are Mighten, Richards, Scarpa, Laryea, Dennis, Mbe Soh, and …. Freuler I guess. But I thought Freuler was a permanent move?
