In conclusion, signing Shelvey was either a terrible error , a desperate signing ignoring all statistical evidence or something a little more sinister. After all a deal worth £20m to club and player , has a lot of fees attached to it.

JjS is a top footballer, I mean just look what happened when he went off against West Ham!

And all those fouls he gave away, that's because he's SO committed, I mean he's all over the bloody pitch especially covering for where the rest of our donkeys were supposed to be!

Having said that, the lad's an even better professional; a "smashing" lad to have around the dressing room.

Richard Keyes Love-Lingard is a late bloomer who is finally finding his feet at semi-professional level, and is ready for the "big" leagues.

A left back who tackles hard but fair, and has excellent stamina, he would be perfect for a cold Tuesday evening in Aberdeen. He also takes a mean set piece; comparisons with Stuart Pearce are not untoward.

If you're interested call his agent, Jack Farmer at LTLF Enterprises on 555-Sign-My-Guy, and get in there before someone like Rotherham makes the moneyball signing of the summer.

I can see broadly why we took a risk with him. It's a well trod path on this thread and elsewhere.

But I'd love to know what recruitment were thinking 🤔

Easy to correct in hindsight but they must have had a risk assessment that considered the upside and downside of spending a few million quid on him.

Insight into that would be intresting.
