Jonjo Shelvey

just a. thought on shelve. y....my computer. insists on shelves
hardly seen him play as I've been ill, so I'm neutral, but have just. come back from holiday, where I met a Newcastle fan
he said he admired. Steve Cooper a lot, but. couldn't understand why he bought. shelve. y
said he. could be a really good player, but was always doing stupid stuff like getting sent. off when there was no need

so maybe. it. was a case of attitude...who knows.

my only gripe with the comments is that I don't think he's good looking....mind you, as I'm a mature woman I. suppose I'm not. qualified. to. judge-....no idea if he can sing
I think we can all agree on that 😬

He's highly unlikely to leave on a free - nevermind recoup the fee that we paid. He has two years on his contract to run and reportedly we gave him a small increase on his Toon salary . Therefore, estimate his wages to be 75k a week. Rough calculation then - £7.5m to pay up his contract 9or for another club to budget to take him on). Nevermind the £2-3m we paid for him.

And he arrived crocked. Just a terrible piece of business,

Spurs mates of mine said after our away game this year :
" What were you doing signing Shelvey?
Everyone knows he's lost what little pace he had. Yours is the most immobile, slow midfield we have seen"
You'll recollect how Spurs were having a torrid time and yet beat us easily, following a flimsy error prone Forest )

Every club knew apart from us?

The consequence was a change of shape and play - the move to 20% possession, low and mid block , witha hope to counter on the break . Abandon any pass or retain midfiled play.

In conclusion, signing Shelvey was either a terrible error , a desperate signing ignoring all statistical evidence or something a little more sinister. After all a deal worth £20m to club and player , has a lot of fees attached to it.

Christ, did we pay a fee for him?

I didn’t realise that

Outrageous

I can't wait to hear him on some random popular podcast in 4 years slagging Forest off. Seems like the type.

Its funny you said that because I did think it was all turning out a bit Neil Shipperley like, hopefully JJS doesn't stoop so low as to put on 25 stone and get prosecuted for knocking one out at young children and innocent women.

Someone on the CelticRumours website thinks Celtic want Shelvey! (Iheanacho too)

I have some coming your way. My reliable source confirms celtic will attempt to sign ALL yes ALL of the following players in this summers window. The sale of Jota to the cash rich oil merchants have given mr brendan a war chest.
Incomings being targeted are
Lyanco from Southampton
Jonjoe Shelvey - nott forest
Senesi - bournemouth
Will Hughes - Palace
Iheanacho - Leicester.
These are rodgers 5 priorities in this window.
Name I'm hearing being looked at to replace the outgoing jota is martin boyle. Rodgers is a huge fan.

Hi Celtic 👋

JjS is a top footballer, I mean just look what happened when he went off against West Ham!

And all those fouls he gave away, that's because he's SO committed, I mean he's all over the bloody pitch especially covering for where the rest of our donkeys were supposed to be!

Having said that, the lad's an even better professional; a "smashing" lad to have around the dressing room.

Don't you dare put in a bid!...

Mate it's Celtic, at 34 years old I'm sure I could carve out a career in the SPL now.

Hi Celtic 👋

Richard Keyes Love-Lingard is a late bloomer who is finally finding his feet at semi-professional level, and is ready for the "big" leagues.

A left back who tackles hard but fair, and has excellent stamina, he would be perfect for a cold Tuesday evening in Aberdeen. He also takes a mean set piece; comparisons with Stuart Pearce are not untoward.

If you're interested call his agent, Jack Farmer at LTLF Enterprises on 555-Sign-My-Guy, and get in there before someone like Rotherham makes the moneyball signing of the summer.

Rodgers did have him at Liverpool, but he also flogged him to Swansea.

Desperately hope it’s true though.

One less gobshite...
I can see broadly why we took a risk with him. It's a well trod path on this thread and elsewhere.

But I'd love to know what recruitment were thinking 🤔

Easy to correct in hindsight but they must have had a risk assessment that considered the upside and downside of spending a few million quid on him.

Insight into that would be intresting.

They seemed to have a good relationship according to articles from that time.
