'Forest have taken a huge gamble here on an unproven player'

Says the team who just employed Frank Lampard as manager.

They are incredibly sour. Literally clutching at straws. Maybe we should have spunked the money on Butterfield? Weismann?

One of them is actually taking note that Karanka isn't in any of the pictures. LOL. Rams.

I've been reading that Carvalho was actually a footballer before he signed yesterday. That is something at least.

A bigger gamble might have been to, say, put a television pundit in charge of the whole team.

It's not yet 7am, but this will almost certainly be post of the day. :tophat:

Firstly I'd like to welcome both players to Nottingham Forest. I have had a look at quite a few YouTube videos of Carvalho and looked at a few reactions of the Benfica fans and what I've seen we have got at least one but hopefully two excellent footballers. I have supported the Reds for 40 years and for the first time in many years I am really looking forward to this season. If Marriott is the striker we are looking at or even if it is another player then they can see the commitment of the club. It will be very interesting to see who will be leaving as I think we may now lose some of the 'fans favourites. We have an attacking midfielder and a winger/striker now so is Cash, Osborn etc at risk. Do we still need Tomlin? Do we need Colback?

I don't think we need Tomlin.
Colback, it depends on what he'll cost. We have Bridcutt who can play there. Suppose it comes down to the pockets of EM.

Am I right in thinking this is the second highest Championship transfer of all time? Or the third?

The fact that we're involved in the sevond and third (in and out) tells us these Greeks know what they're doing.

At last we are starting to see a plan forming rather than a crisis being created. 'tis many a year since that was the case at Forest.

Apart from the awful new shirt I am very positive of at least a serious Playoff push this season.

Really think these guys could bring Matty Cash's development on.

It will be interesting to see how he stacks up against them given they are all around the same age.

Interesting. I thought Cash would be the player most likely to lose his place with these two coming in. Got to think Lolley will be preferred for final right wing slot?

AK is a BIG fan of Matty.

I think he'll rotate based on system/opposition/form/fitness.

Options. Thank god we aren't a one player threat anymore.

Lolley is much better off the left anyway as a conventional direct winger as opposed to a inverted winger.

Cash's running will benefit him hugely with the apparent vision of JM and DG from their vids.

Possible, but Cash is so versatile, he could slot-in alongside Watson and play from deep, too.

What choices we have. A genuine competition for Midfield places and it’s been a while since we have said that.

It's a sign of the shocking, shambling state of our club that I just can't help but feel I'm waiting for these signings to all go wrong.

Be it our never ending injury curse, dodgy contract clauses, or the fear that The Two Portuguese could just turn out to be the next Three Italian.

Good god we're due a break as a club. And for once not in the ACL sense of the word.

Assuming we get Soudani & 2 strikers, we will have 2 quality players in every attacking position.

LM: Lolley & Diogo
RM: Cash & Soudani
ST: X, X & Brereton

Assuming we get players we are after, the thing I like is we have proven British players alongside an overseas wildcard. It’s a good balance.

Times like these I sometimes forget that the injection of quality will help the undoubtable quality we have in the likes of Lolley, Cash, Brereton, Osbourn etc.

After another shocking season, it's easy to think that we need a whole new team but a few more additions, with no significant outgoings, should see us competitive.

RB Dawson Figueiredo LB
Watson Osbourn/DCM
Lolley/Cash Carvalho Gonçalves

I have said it before, Fawaz ruined this club mentally. Made everybody scared of ambition, FFP and something to go wrong through his false promises and bitter blows every year.

Be interesting to see AK's thoughts on strikers and whether he sees us needed 1 or 2, as well as what happens with Murphy and Vellios.

He put faith in Brereton last season, and I know he's not had his breakthrough with goals yet, but he is capable of it. Not sure I want 2 in front of him.

Runs deeper and longer than Fawaz. He just reinforced 20 years of failure and embarrassment. That outlook doesn't change overnight, but we'll keep going.

I keep using the abused partner metaphor. Found a nice new significant other but waiting and expecting to be abused again. For some it takes longer than others to rebuild trust.

With a positive attitude like this, you’ll be a fine addition to the LTLF BDSM dungeon!
