Great that the ticket exchange is finally in place, however I can’t think of a worse way of operating it!
Having already made away games a closed shop to away members, they’re now making home games a closed shop! By only allowing a season ticket holder to apply the credit from selling a ticket to their renewal the following year, surely that just encourages the ticket holder to keep renewing, making it much harder for any new fans to get to games at the City Ground.
Considering the amount of time it’s taken them to come up with this, you’d hope someone within the club could see there’s better ways of running this!

The 'first come first served' system is already in operation (certainly for away members)-as outlined on thisWould you care to outline your master plan?
How about first come first served and do away with creating a system designed to create a paranoia that if you don’t maintain membership you’ll never get back in.

I've been going to the City Ground for 37 years mate. As a non-member I've given up of ever going again. I now watch football at Meadow Lane and am thoroughly enjoying it. Growing fanbase you havin a laugh! But it has been proposed before - because we all know there are too many people chasing too many tickets - that some type of ballot-system would be much fairer, because then you have at least the potential chance to get to a game or two?
The main issue at the moment is that tickets are effectively locked out to the same people - and that is not going to help growing the fanbase, or - more importantly - capturing the next generation of supporters?
TBH I'm not sure what the club could've done differently though regarding tickets. Membership was all sold out even before I knew it even existed. My fault for being lax. Maybe the club could leave a thousand tickets in some kind of lottery drawn 10 days before the game, I dunno. You sound abandoned and betrayed Steve.
Not the first Forest fan I've heard feeling deserted.
I think a lot of traditional football fans would agree with you.TBH I'm not sure what the club could've done differently though regarding tickets. But anyway we are where we are and Meadow Lane is the only option available.
It's not the same but it is better than I ever expected so to anyone who finds themselves in the same position of being locked out of the City Ground for the season and possibly forever I highly recommend Meadow Lane. Three games in and I've not experienced the same electric atmosphere that the City Ground can generate from time to time but overall I have been impressed by the atmosphere at Meadow Lane and the size of the fan base, especially considering the club are currently in the National League. How a club this size ever ended up so low is a disgrace and something I need to read up on but without doubt this club is on the up which is exciting to be part of.
The points I prefer;
1. Decide to buy a ticket on the day.
2. Tickets are reasonably priced - £20
3. Parking is easy.
4. Team is doing well
5. Small squad so easy to identify with the players.
6. No VAR.
7. A much less hassle day all-round. A very enjoyable experience.
I'm starting to think it's deliberate by the club. They've had weeks to come up with this swap system and as someone rightly pointed out it benefits the existing ST holders and locks them in. Same with away membership, it's a closed shop. But it has been proposed before - because we all know there are too many people chasing too many tickets - that some type of ballot-system would be much fairer, because then you have at least the potential chance to get to a game or two?

Twenty quid is a lot for non-league football, though.TBH I'm not sure what the club could've done differently though regarding tickets. Membership was all sold out even before I knew it even existed.
