Here We Go.......

Try A Little Tenderness
It didn't take long for the ever-sanctimonious Pope and his equally-deluded acolytes over on Vital to start dusting-off their pitchforks. I must admit, I did think they'd at least wait until we've lost a game before they started, but Frank McParland's ripe for the treatment now it seems.

Widdow 16/7/2017.......

"Just have to wonder what McParland and our new scouting structure are doing?

Warburton says he has been working tirelessly since he joined club back in February.

Keep being told to keep calm, McParland will unearth another gem if we sell Britt. All we have signed so far is a player in McKay who they knew all about, as he played at their last club. And the other, a striker who scored a number of times against Rangers.

Neither starters unless they make real stand out markers in the upcoming four friendly matches (which still dont think is enough game preparation for a new season)

That doesn't take much scouting. Now he is off watching olympicos, and (just surmising) looking at which of the players they don't want could come in handy at Forest. Last time I looked Oly have about 4 back up right wingers for example.

We were linked Justin James.....I mentioned him and loads of other lower league players at the end of last season.

A lot of us think Ollie Watkins would be a great signing with potential to replace Britt but Exeter want £4m. Can we afford that? Brentford looking hard at him and we know that they're shrewd operators. They would be prepared to sell Vibe to fund him. He is a striker last year in contract and turns 31 this season. So wouldn't have the sell on value that Watkins, and would cost £4m.

If we were going down FFP route then Watkins would be the better buy for future. But then again even thats a gamble and we may have to wait a year or so to see best of the young striker, whilst Vibe has proven he can score in this league. So what do we do?

What is the cost of doing nothing?

Sure we will soon hear the excuses it is difficult market....and still can't get rid of the deadwood like Lica, the clown, perquis and we still have an unbalanced squad with loads of players who can play on the wing but crying out for a proper defensive midfielder (as we have done for years)
"

Pope John XXIII 16/7/2017.......

"Widdow raises a legitimate question.

McParland has been here since February and the only players he has landed are ones they saw play in Scotland, as are many of the players we have been linked to.

We have spent over £1m so far which isn't bad. Low funds isn't an issue. He will have known from February that the budget was the high end of nothing and needed to be working on targets accordingly.

If you hired someone in recruitment to recruit staff and after nearly 6 months they hadn't come remotely close to meeting your needs, what would you do?

I haven't seen anything from McP yet that Warburton couldn't have done on his own and saved a wage

These would probably be valid points on September 1. They are not on July 16.

The first poster 'Widdow' must've been a master at hitting word counts if he went to school/Uni, so much waffle to make very little point.

I'd also like to know how they're so privy to what Frank McParland does in his day to day work?

People seem to be getting confused between speculative tweets from fans saying "I like such and such player we should go for him #nffc" and who our actual targets are. I don't think we've been linked with Ollie Watkins once from any reliable source yet he keeps being mentioned as a target, almost as if people think we'd be 'missing out on another target' if he went to a club he's actually been linked with i.e. Brentford.

Ah well.

I'll just be turning up to the Millwall game to support the men in red. I'll leave the worrying about transfer targets to this guy. I've not got much hair left to pull out anyway.

Exactly, we've the whole season to go yet.

Talk about dooming us already.

Think I'd rather watch us play a few league games first.

Even then it's not as if promotion is realistic to expect anyway.

True want to enjoy the football, and the idea of a stable football club for one season at least without any drama

A little unnecessary, especially given that most posters have vociferously argued with Pope...perhaps if he'd posted a picture of a squirrel as hilarious banter...

Every forum has its arseholes, this thread aptly demonstrates that.

We are all arseholes.... some are just prepared to admit it.

Some people take themselves and Forest far to seriously. I kinda feel sorry for them, must be so depressing following a shit football team when that's all you have on your life.

Ahem, nobody gets to "love" me. The bum dungeon is a one way street, I ain't gay.

Nah, the people on this forum aren't arseholes. How do I know this? Because I'm one and they're never at the meetings.
