He can play until/if he's banned. It took them ages to ban Ivan Toney, and his offences weren't historic. Given how long ago the breaches were, and that there's been nothing more recent, it perhaps isn't even a foregone conclusion Toffolo will even be banned for it. Toney was betting on matches more recently I think.

They were historic, 232 instances between 2017 and 2021.

The real differences in these cases are the infringement.

They are not being charged with yhe same thing.

Toney's case was the more serious because he was betting on game he was involved with.

So Ivan Toney's were recent (I'd contest 2021 offences are really that historic as it was 2022 he was charged), and betting on matches he's involved in.

And he is banned for what, 6 months I think?

Given Toffolo's offence is lesser, and the offences happened when he was what, 18/21ish, it's likely his punishment will be less.

You can reinvent language if you like but they were historic as more that a year had past since the latest infringement.

'Recent' is not an antonym of historic, that would 'current'.

And the laws do not make a distinction for when the infringement was committed.

Toffolo's is just less severe.

The benchmark for Toffolo is probably Kieran Trippier.

Regardless of any potential bans it looked very clear to me that technically he isn't up to the required level. Solid player though, would rip the championship and possibly do well in a different top level league to the PL.

Thanks was trying to Google the difference, meaning Toff may get a minimal ban i.e 10 games rather than 8 months and no training.

Didn't do it for me - move always slowed down when it went to his side as he wasn't on the same technical level as those around him. Decent defender though and effective enough going forward when in stride, just not someone who could take it on and move the ball quickly. YMMV

I think he's better going forward than he is defensively myself, which is why I'd look to replace. A good winger tears him a new one virtually every time.

Lazy comment. Wolves at home- did really well up against traore-think he switched wings but was definitely subbed second half. I don’t think he has us down compared to a few I could mention. You have to put into context the balance and development of the team-last 5-6 games I am sure he would have slotted in well.

Not sure that Traore fits into the top winger category for a good few years now.

Jack Harrison absolutely destroyed him though, and he's probably a few rungs down from top drawer himself.

Not to use this as a stick to beat Toffs, but have to say (again!) that Traore is absolute garbage - classic unplayable for two games a year player: the rest of the time he is dire.

Back to Toff, I remember him coming in for some criticism early on defensively for defending too narrow - that was clearly a tactical approach then as Lodi was the same when he played too. Anyhow, I'll shut up on Toffolo now since I've nothing against the chap, bookies habit aside, he's just someone I think we could very easily upgrade on, which I think should be done when that's the case. I also think we could move him on for a tidy profit.
