Excellent signing if it happens , he's a quality championship midfield play maker & is though tackling as well , this guy would be well up for the struggle ahead bring him on in

I was actually working with that in mind anyway.

If we sign Whelan permanently we will have a lot of central midfielders. Once Moussi's fit, I imagine he'll be back in the team, which would mean him and Whelan as the central two. That's very solid but short on creativity.

Maybe we could play 2-7-1?

A very good player. But do we need another central midfielder??....I suppose atm in time we actually do due to injuries...but when they are all fit there is going to be a few unhappy faces as 4 or 5 of the central midfielders probs have a first team member status....and will be sat on the bench

Whelan would be a great signing. Giovanni Trappatoni, who knows a thing or two about football, picked him out immediately in the first Irish squad get-together and threw him straight in to the team. He's picked him ahead of Andy Reid, which has caused some controversy, but even the sceptics have been impressed with him. He's very disciplined, high-energy, all-action, but he's not just a runner. He has very good awareness, can pass the ball, and tries to keep play moving forward.
