Did 6 months YTS in a butchers in Beeston just after leaving school & they used throw all sorts of shite into the sausages, enough to turn your stomach & I can vaguely remember hearing stories at the time about the Pork Farms sausages that would turn you vegan in a second 🤮

Hopefully he’s reading this thread and is curious enough to want to sample our pork pies.

My grandad had a butchers shop. In his younger days he used to do the whole lot himself, he’d go to market and buy in pigs, lambs and cows and slaughter them himself, butcher them up… I remember him mincing meat up and making sausages.

He was really fussy what meat he ate though. He’d eat his own, meat from some other butchers who had similar practices to him. This was my mum’s dad but him and my dad once won a competition to go to the Hennessy gold cup. They stayed over in a really lush London hotel with a top restaurant but he told them he was a vegetarian because he didn’t know where they had got their meat 🤣 This was in the 70’s when I can’t imagine a tough old boy from the country would even know what one was!! He drank them out of house and home though apparently!!

I do t mind a pork pie, obviously a decent one from the butchers. I’ve never had one warm though. Is that how other people eat them?

Conventionally, they're eaten cold. But my owd man and his dad used to get a warm one in the pub.
