Funding of a potential new stadium

I can't see it myself. Nobody needs a football club and certainly not one laced with that amount of debt. They'll all wait and hope it goes into admin to pick it up at a fraction. Sad but true.
Yep. Sorry that’s what I meant by being in the championship.
Does anyone know what the cut off point is for a club that go into administration to be hit with a deduction this season?

As going into Administration is a finite moment, the punishment of 9pts should be immediate.

But are Everton close to Administration at this point?

Yes that's correct. You can go into administration at half time and be hit with the points deducted at that moment.

That would be incredible to hear in the dying embers of the 109th minute on the final day that a club had gone into administration and the 9pts has been deducted.

Who would be your preference? I'd love it to be Brentford, the poetic justice of Karma would probably so great that I would probably change my religious beliefs

The owner would probably create a newco and build the stadium through that.
The newco would own the freehold, and bear the interest on any loans.
The Newco would then charge a fair rent to the football club.
That way there is no way the construction of a new stadium should hit the PSR calculation for the club, other than in the rent write-off.
As we are already incurring £250k per annum rent, then the new stadium should not penalise the PSR calculation.

There has been chatter this week about administration.

The current owner won't fund it anymore, and 777 Group are a basketcase. They have no plan B at the moment.
Apparently the PL are going to announce next week if 777 pass the fit and proper person test. They have taken out £160M in loans to fund Everton so who is liable if they get the boot, Moshiri?

I'm a Sunderland fan and I'm interested in your ground situation.

A new, modern stadium would obviously generate more revenue than the City Ground with extra hospitality, food/drink sales in the concourses, events, concerts etc but how could the club benefit given how expensive stadiums are to build?

Won't the loan repayments eat up any extra revenue generated from the stadium?

Thanks

It's simple. We're going to build the new stadium and get Derby fans to pay for it!
If it works for Trump....

The Billionaire owners of Man Utd want to rebuild Old Trafford but want tax-payer's money to make it The National Stadium Of The North.

Maybe we should go for The National Stadium Of The East Midlands and get joe public to pay for it??

Well, Nottingham is more central to England than Manchester is, so, why not?

Also, they can bugger off if they think Manchester is north. I’ll begrudgingly give them North Midlands but then they have to promise to sod off back to Leatherhead and Epsom.

We're not even on the map in the football world
Ah well, you say this but…

…yesterday, I was involved in an architectural workshop for one of our ongoing projects, and it involved colleagues from all over our (rather large) enterprise, including some fairly senior folk.

So I am minding my own business, and the head of our network architecture group wanders over to me (and he is a pretty senior guy) and he says:

„Ach, from where in England do you come from originally, again?“

„Nottingham“
says I.

„Ah…“ he says „Yes. A very famous football club, Nottingham Forest, I should have remembered!“

Is there a riff on that old vegan joke here?

How do you know if someone supports Forest?

I heard it questioned where Utd would play whilst OT is rebuilt and without any hint of sarcasm Wembley was mentioned 😂

Well fair enough, it’s nearer to Surrey than Old Trafford is, so more convenient for most of their fanbase?

Would fans prefer a new stadium or improve the City Ground?

I’d say everyone would like as the main preference:

1) to stay in the current location
2) to have running water
3) to have a larger/sufficient capacity
4) slightly better access in and out than we have currently.

We don’t want a lot, but I think we all realise it’s incredibly difficult for many many reasons, including the council and the main one being that where we are physically is superb but it’s tight a f***.

So that’s why a new location is mentioned. Not because we want one but that to get everything or most of the things we want is not straightforward.
