Frustrated Forest Fans

stockers

Jack Armstrong
According to the media Dougie thinks we're all getting frustrated due to the lack of signings, apparently he's not going to make any signings just to appease us! Anyone else not feeling the slightest frustration. I'd rather we played the U21's all season than sign anymore shit overpaid players. I'm sure the media take this out of proportion but i do love the way the fans are made out to be transfer addicts, when i'm pretty sure the only people who are are the managers and the media!

There's enough here now for a good manager to work with. Get on with the bastard.

If we had this exact squad now, didn't sign anyone else, didn't sell anyone else, would everyone be happy to start the season? I would.

Yes. There's enough quality here for a nice, safe, unspectacular mid-table finish.

We still need a proper DM IMO, but overall I think Dougie's done a great job and only a complete tart would be frustrated under an umbongo and at July end.

This must be the first time that someone has turned down the opportunity to scream "we need a proper left back". Its nearly as popular as images of squirrels.

To paraphrase he who shall not be named (for the sake of the dogs) The season will be what it will be. Its outside our control. The players we have should have the ability to do well if they play together and at least play to their strengths. We know from our experiences over the last few seasons, that one or two will play their socks off. Injuries will lead to the shape of the team being warped from its optimum. There will also be some players that don't play as well as we feel they should. How the rest of the team play will be dictated by how the manager sets them up, whether they can string a run together, who they play, who is injured and how they react to adversity / success. We've seen before in this league that weaker teams can beat stronger teams if they are disipline and play as a team. Even with our FFP restrictions we are still better on paper than many of the other teams. It won't be long now before we see how they fare.

Reminds me of the time when the shit hit the financial fan under Paul Hart, forced to play the kids..Jenas, Reid, Williams, Dawson etc . as an alternative to "the Leicester option" of taking andministration (no penalty back then).

Didn't work out too bad at the time, we nearly made it.

I am actually very happy with the business we have done. I think Mills, Ward and potentially Maynard are excellent signings under the restrictions we have.

My frustration is more vented at the stupid rule, rather than the club itself.

What's actually a bit funny this year is that at least our situation is recognized this year. Each year since Fawaz took over we've pretty much been in a similar situation one way or another.

From SOD inheriting a squad with only 8 players availble for the 1st day of training; to us being desperate for anyone to come here post Mcliesh after SOD's totally unecessary sacking; to that same desperation being amplified by prematurely changing things again whilst sat 7th again the following season (sorry, but I have to say there the retardedness of that repetition when sat in exatly the same league placing was just amazing, utterly stunning); to giving the man who signed our 2 top double-figure scorers in Feb just over half a season and having waited for months to land a top drawer CEO to toss that away; we've bundled our way from one shit-sandwhich to the next.

The only difference between this and past seasons is that more fans are acknowledging our shitty situation. It's a good thing and hopefully will allow Dougie some more leeway to shape a real team.

Because of FFP Dougie has a difficult job. But:

- The squad is fairly stable for a change.
- Mills and Ward are underrated additions who I think will do well.
- Dougie is already of the mind set that Cohen and Reid will have a limited if no effect on precedings.

Freedman just needs to sort out an effective formation and style of play without hoofing to Dex and Antonio.

I think the players are there to play a more expansive and attractive style of football.

Hopefully this preseason together he is able to mould the team and get them playing together and not as individuals.

The first 10 games under Pearce and Freedman have shown they are capable of getting results they just need to be more consistent now.

I wouldnt.

When the balance was all wrong last season & we couldnt put anything together as a team. How does the addition of a CB & left winger in any way convince that the balance will be better this season?

If Cohen & Reid can find sustained fitness we,re in better shape. Otherwise, all I can see is a reflection of all the problems of last season.

Yep, I agree with that. He's done as well as he could. No sales of note, two good additions and he's brought the likes of Riera in to contention. I like that.

You seem to have a few contradictions within this paragraph

what are you unhappy about?

We leaked goals like a sieve last season. Mills and Hobbs will help shore up the defence. This frees up Mancienne to play CM. I think if he gets time there he can be useful. Good in the air, good at taking the ball off opposing players toes etc. In our current situation I think he'll be fine. Plus we have Tesche back in the squad.

We lack creativity without Reid. Ward is a reasonable replacement for that creativity.

In patches the core of the team has shown it can go on unbeaten runs. Its not quite as doom and gloom as many are saying.

This.

It's actually been quite refreshing to not be linked with Jordan Rhodes and the rest of it. It bores me to tears, but I know some people thrive on it, like them lads that sat behind me last season that spent too much time on FIFA or whatever it's called.

 Pure consumer brainwashing which has infected the game. How much did Robertson or Pearce cost us?

This thread about frustrated Forest fans seems to have turned into Anyone got Optimism?, yet the real optimism thread was full of frustration.

Funny old world.
