Forest working hard on Transfers

Master Yates

John Robertson
Many of the players who scored 20 goals last year in Europe's lower leagues have moved club this summer already.

Sevilla have had a 6m euro bid turned down for Carlos Bacca.

Jackson Martinez, Alfred Finnbogason and Burak Yilmaz have been linked with top clubs for multimillions. Djebbour been heavily linked with Bursaspor.

Jonathan Soriano bagged 26 league goals for Red Bull Salzburg last year, but wasn't top scorer - that was Austria Vienna's Philipp Hosiner with 32 league goals.

Filip Đorđević got 20 in Ligue 2, Mustapha Yatabaré got 23 in the same league. Nobody got 20 league goals in the 2Bundesliga.

Daniele Cacia got 24 in Serie B, Matteo Ardemagni got 22 (on loan from Atalanta), Tavano (34 years old) got 21 and Paulinho (EU passport) got 20.

Segunda Divison's top scorer Charles has just signed for Celta Vigo, Jese (Real Madrid B) scored 22 from the wing, Yuri de Souza (Brazilian with Portuguese passport) got 21 league goals.

As well as Bacca, Ilombe Mboyo got 20 goals in Belgium - he has been linked with Hull and Swansea for 5-6m.

Only person to score 20+ in Portuguese second tier is a soon to be 34 year old Brazilian journeyman.

Top scorer in Georgia was a 32 year old left winger called Xisco.

Nobody got 20 league goals in Cyprus, Slovakia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Russia, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Albania, Belarus, Hungary, Bulgaria, Latvia, Poland or Montenegro.

Bosnian top scorer has just gone to Israel, Israeli top scorer has just gone to Reims in France, Mkhitryan who has just gone Dortmund was the only player to get 20 in Ukraine, Swedish top scorer went to Spartak Moscow, Czech top scorer recently signed for Sparta Prague, Romanian top scorer just signed for Sevilla.

That leaves Tom Pope, Jamie Cureton, Paddy Madden, Deeney, Wood, Vydra, Austin, Rhodes, Murray, Higdon (gone to NEC), Leigh Griffiths, Billy McKay and Niall McGinn from England and Scotland.

So, in summary, I would say this Saif chap is on a windup. If he is telling the truth, I reckon it will be him trying to hype up a mediocre signing like Leigh Griffiths or someone.

Would be incredibly ironic if its Austin.

Boyd fails forest medical goes to Hull, Austin fails Hull medical goes to Forest. :D

Know it's not possible really with the timings of announcements and so on but would still be funny!

Hoopers a possibility IF we've met the price tag which has been the stumbling block for any PL move he's potentially had. I do doubt that we are going to plump for (is it £8m) when many PL clubs are just refusing.

Someone from league one would suit me nicely 20 goals a season at whatever level in fact is certainly something that grabs my attention. Obviously 20 goals in conference south is not emphatic or exciting but it at least shows potential and the price will reflect how proven they are. Someone with over 20 goals at that level at a low price is surely worth a punt if the scouting has been done? As disheartening as it would be!

Although to be fair Griffiths is obviously a better player than Russell who the Sheep signed, and they were very pleased about him joining them. I do understand that what is a good signing in the eyes of fans of a mid-table team is not going to be a good signing for a team with aspirations of promotion.

That smacks of a Garner stroke Mcgoldrick type signing. Very poor.

Or Garath McCleary?

Like I said if the right scouting and research is done to go with the facts and you come to a conclusion it's a risk worth taking then I see no issue.

The two you've mentioned also cost the best part of £1m each didn't they both of which had very good reputations prior to NFFC as so many strikers have over the years.

McLeary took years to settle in. To challenge I am hoping we get a ready made goal machine. It looks like the Austin and Hooper signings are becoming less likely but think we need a proven goal scorer at a decent level. Now if we get a top striker and Madden I would be happy with that.

Of course I would be happy with someone proven at this level or a similar standard but a lower level isn't always a bad thing.

Lambert, Rhodes, Sharp, Austin, Hooper, Holt even. All started at lower levels and moved up and continued to score consistently. It's not such a bad thing as a whole I would say.

Paddy Madden would not be a bad signing.
He'd play under a new system, certainly, but with better players.

How many did Lee Chapman score for Arsenal and Niort and whatnot before he joined Forest? Rather few, as I seem to recall.
Collymore played for Southend when FC forked out the incredible sum of £2 million to land him back then. Granted, he'd been at Palace when the Bright/Wright duo was at its most potent.

Alkoot says Bader is close to signing not that it's Bader.
