Back in 1970 the 19 year old Peter Marinello joined*Arsenal*from Hibs for £100,000, a club record fee at the time.*

I remember the papers and TV where full of this new darling wonder boy who posed for fashion press shoots as well:

His career on the pitch however did not flourish.

I was looking at that. Couldn't make out whether it was the lotus or the GT. My brother in law had the GT, I think I pushed it more than rode in it.
Strange how we thought they were really fast, your bog standard focus of today would probably piss all over it.

Look to the left of the number plate - that is the "upside down triangle" Lotus badge.

They only put out 115hp from the Lotus twin-cam engine, but it made a lovely noise, and was so light, you could throw one into a corner and power your way out.

Best is still the most skilful footballer to have ever graced a field, and my missus still thinks he is the hottest footballer ever.

His value in today's market? Messi + Ronaldo x 10.

I remember seeing a field of Grand Prix drivers at Brands Hatch one year all racing Lotus Cortinas. They were just having fun and it was fun for the spectators, too. I used to stand at Druids behind a few straw bales.
