Have I missed the thread on this latest move by our shirt sponsors?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.th...-be-trapped-after-drop-in-players-share-price

On the great scale of ethical betting companies, this looks as murky as hell.

There's a petition online to try and get the gambling commission involved in what looks like a case of "moving the goalposts after you've committed".

I have no stake or money in this, it's just that their name is all over our shirts and promo stuff and I think it was better in the John Pye days.

Re: Football Index (shirt sponsor)

I used this for a bit and put about £400 pounds into it which quite quickly became about £650 so £250 in profit.
They also paid dividends based on performance that netted you quite a bit of profit too.
They then stopped the duvidends and pretty much over night all players shares dropped I watched it for about a week and decided to sell everything off and sold most shares.
I got lucky I think got back just over £400 but am still left with some shares that apparently I can't sell and I have no idea why they are unable to be selected for sale.
Looked a good platform when I first started using it but I wouldn't go near it again.

Yeah, this was posted at the time, can’t remember which thread though.

It’s proper shady, and not in a Slim Shady way either.

Didn't understand it when it first came out because I never bother with this sort of stuff.

Reading about it now, it seems a daft concept, but that might just be with the benefit of hindsight.

The concept of based on a fantasy football format is good. It just looks like Football Index have changed the rules to fleece investors

I had thought of the fantasy football angle, but decided that when money is involved, it just doesn't work. Bit like playing poker for fun, then when money is involved it's a whole new game.

Can you short stocks on this app? It would certainly explain our nosedive since lockdown as the players are in a shorting racquet with insider trading. :D

"It was better in the John Pye days" -- Ethically yes, financially no.
It's the same motivator for Shatcron being our manufacturer, they paid more than Adidas were willing to.

As for Football Index, they're not even exclusive to us either now, they sponsor QPR too.
I used their service when we first got them but once I got my money back and could withdraw it, I deleted the app.

They aren't investors.

It's a gambling website.

You don't own the player, the players image rights or any other asset intangible or otherwise that real investors buy into when they buy real investments. The "dividends" you receive are not dividends in any meaning of the word. Your money is not protected by FCSC.

Anyone using this site should be well aware they are gambling.

If folk aren't comfortable with unprotected gambling schemes who have the ability to change T+Cs on the fly then you know what to do.

Re: Football Index (shirt sponsor)

We've been sponsored by 4 betting companies in the last 10 years. Half of them have gone out of business before the end of the contract.

Let's stop having these awful companies on our shirts.

That's now two betting company sponsors that have gone bust whilst still on the shirt.

We're haemorrhaging money anyway, can we not just give it to Castle Rock or The Nottingham?

Judging by our accounts i think the biggest paying sponsor is currently what we need.

How much as a percentage of income does our shirt sponsor bring in?

Sorry I can't be arsed to look it up and I know other people enjoy this stuff

Hope Forest got their sponsor money up front, because if they didn’t, they won’t see much more of it.

As per previous rants, it’s time to stop giving a platform to shitty gambling companies and choose a more deserving sponsor please, NFFC.

I for one don't buy our replica kits because I'm not walking around advertising some scammy Ponzi scheme betting company. If we had no sponsor for the rest of the season and they brought out a replica kit with no sponsors, that would be great.

An advertisement of a charity would be good, for the rest of the season. I kind of get what football index was trying to, shares in footballers? Is the whole crypto currency bubble any different?

Football Index is basically a ponzi scheme.

And, like many other such schemes, it’s run out of cash.

A Ponzi scheme that our club's football shirts have spent the past 6 months advertising.

As said above, put a local business(es) on the shirt for the rest of the season and give supporters the chance to buy a replica either with that business on the front, or free of sponsorship. Give a percentage of the profits from the shirt sales to local charities

Could we have the NHS logo on our shirts for the rest of the season please?

You’ll soon be able to tell, if the sponsor disappears.

If they paid up front, we’re obligated to keep there name on it. If they were paying in instalments, they’ll default at some point and we can remove them and/or find an alternative.

Maybe forest should stick Barry, Wes, Lefkas and TBT on the shirt now so we can speak to them again.

Barry, Wes and Lefkas can have the shirt. I’ll have the shorts. :)
