FFP Sanctions

So, Forest fail FFP and are banned from paying a team a single penny for at least the next three windows.

Manchester City fail FFP and are set to sign Wilfried Bony for £30m.

Hmmm...

The rules a disgrace. Football elitism is all it promotes. The sooner legal action gets taken the better.

Because it's Manchester City and they've lots of money.

Weren't Barcelona hit with an embargo too at the start of the season? They somehow got out of it a few days later as well.

Man City don't have an embargo tho

They have to have a smaller squad (21 instead of 25) and spending limit of £49m

Haha, a limit of £49m! Why isn't that option available to us...? Why are we under an embargo but the most extravagant example of the thing they're trying to eradicate are allowed to continue spending?!?

The more you look into FFP, the whole thing does smack of wanting to preserve the top at the top and the bottom at the bottom.

Sod's law it had to happen when we're trying to get back to the top.

That's exactly right, and exactly what they want to do.

They've been won over by the example of US Sports - closed leagues of smaller numbers of teams with no relegation, so that they can consolidate all the obey amongst themselves.

Watford have just signed Mexican international Miguel Layún for an 'undisclosed fee' from Granada. I'm not really that bothered with Man City spending 30 mil on players and the like as we aren't in the same league (literally and figuratively) but this is ridiculous. Watford now have 13 players either permanently signed for an 'undisclosed fee' or on loan. This includes 9 international players and at least 2 that where at the world cup. Apart from buying multiple clubs around the world how can any championship team compete with this and still comply with FFP?

How on Earth can Bournemouth realistically claim to pass FFP? I just don't get it.

And Bolton, Ye Gods. They've apparently gone from £50m in the red per year to passing FFP inside 12 months. They've reduced costs by a minimum of £961k per week, sounds likely. BUT as they haven't declared themselves as failing it officially, they can sign players right now. We were honest and we can't.

How is this fair?

With Watford it's a conveyor belt of quick and easy transactions as they have 2 quite high profile feeder clubs in Granada and Udinese. So they're picking up shitloads of talent from La Liga and Serie A who are all really decent players but can't quite break into the first team. For the most part they're loaning these players and then purchasing them outright once they've proven themselves (as 'Tree on my chest' says, for an undisclosed fee)

The owner of all 3 clubs, Pozzo, is helping all of his clubs by giving these players the valuable experience and games they need at Watford, and giving Watford the players they need to help them push up the table and back into the top league to join his other 2 clubs.

There isn't really too much anyone can do about it either unless they limit the amount of signings Watford can make from Udinese and Granada in a season.

Are not Bolton something like >£150m in debt to their owner?

Bolton need to hire Joe Kinnear. He did, after all, claim to have reduced our "debt" by around £25M in a matter of months!

The idea is a good one. But you cant sanction the big clubs in football, they rule it. So it ends up being a rule that actually widens the gulf.

And we're not in the same league as Man City, or QPR say. But we do enter the same domestic cup competitions. Its just another rule added that tips the balance further in favour of the PL clubs in those competitions.

That is exactly what FFP is designed to acheive under the pretence of ensuring that clubs don't overreach themselves.

The sooner the premier league disbands and some European elite league is formed, the better. We can then have a proper competitive top division again, not one where you are fighting for 5th place.

Its the football league after checking accounts that declare if a club has failed FFP not the club itself.
They still get parachute payments
They have sold players funds received will make the years accounts a lot healthier.

I'm sure the Football League have good accountants checking the figures - wherevas we had Jimbo "FFP is not legal" checking ours.

Am i the only one to think the Premier League isn't all that? Tomorrow we have a traditional English football fixture against a grand old club in Sheffield Wednesday. I know everyone want to be in the Premier league but you have to blow £30m+ just to survive and all it's about is money money money. Does anyone else feel the same way?
