Fawaz can't do anything right!

Since the dismissal of our beloved hero, it seems like a lot of us have decided that whatever Fawaz does it is wrong. I am not defending everything that has gone happened in the last few days because the Britt payments (if true) and the CEO resigning are bad news. But a lot of issues being directed at Fawaz appear just to be sour because he sacked a poor manager and club legend in Stuart Pearce.

I was in the camp that wanted Pearce to remain; i thought that while we were edging closer there wasn’t really any fear of relegation. I thought that some more stability would be good for us. So i wanted him to stay, but i don’t begrudge Fawaz for making the call to sack him, he was doing awfully. Our form was relegation form; it didn’t look like it was improving either. We weren’t even being the better side in matches and coming out with defeats. Maybe Pearce would’ve magically changed it around, but there was no sign of that. A lot of people believe he deserves more time because he’s a club legend. Well he definitely got it! Billy didn’t get this long of a bad run last season, neither did O'driscoll. Whether it was fear of upsetting the fans or respect of who he is, Fawaz gave him extra time to turn things around.

People complain that Freedman was brought in too quickly, in my opinion that is great. He didn’t want to cut Pearce out unless he thought he had found someone better. That’s a good move; we didn’t want to be left in limbo for a few weeks while we looked. Why not do that? Respect for Pearce people say, well Pearce’s last words were "that’s football" he knows that’s what it’s like in the game. Maybe it is disrespectful to Pearce; it also happened to O'driscoll, with Fawaz sacking him then adding "made contact with a premier league manager". It’s the best for the club. I personally would choose what’s best for the club over hurting the feelings of a club legend.

Offering Pearce a role in the club, another one people are claiming as disrespect. Maybe it is, but it’s also another good move for the club. Fawaz saw that Pearce was doing good work within the club; he wanted that good work to continue, so he offered Pearce a job to keep him here. Maybe Pearce's feelings were hurt, but for the club it’s another good move.

Not going into it, but i think Dougie will do a better job than Pearce, and i think he is up there with the best available to us.

Dougie only getting a contract till the end of the season, well good! Fawaz hopefully has learned his lesson about paying out manager contracts! I’m sure it will be extended if he does well this season!

Fawaz claiming that this season isn’t over, somehow people even think this is a negative for him. I don’t think Fawaz has said to Dougie "this year we want play offs" i think his goals for this season are to set the foundations up for next season, improve results and not get relegated. That’s what i expect he wants from this season, however he’s ambitious and optimistic, it is possible to get play offs this season. It’s not what is expected but it is possible. When Dougie took over Bolton in 2012 at 28 games in they had 34 points and where 17th, we are 28 games in, we have 34 points but we are 12th, so we have 5 less teams to overtake. He finished outside the play offs on goal difference that season. It’s within the realms of possibility he can go the extra step with us this year. Especially looking at the fixture list we have coming up. All in all, I’m happy Fawaz has the ambition and optimism to consider the season still alive!

Not selling players, apparently we turned down 9m yesterday, a very nice sum, and very helpful to getting us out of FFP, but very unambitious. Selling some of our most talented players with no hope of getting them back or replacements like them. We would just be taking money and sitting on it. Dougie has barely been here a day and to have his best players torn from him would be awful! Even if you don’t consider this season alive then what about next season? Starting next season without Antonio Lansbury and Paterson? That’s giving up on next season too. I think it shows Fawaz's ambition and commitment to the club, he wants to give Dougie the best shot he can; he’s not taking steps backwards. I’m hoping we have a better plan for FFP next year to get us out of the trouble, hopefully Abdoun, Collins, Halford, Mackie, Majewksi will all be entirely off the wage bill (if Dougie wants) with maybe a few others. There definitely won’t be any money spent on transfer fees out! And hopefully we have some improved revenue. I’m hoping this is all planned for so the money would could’ve received for those players isn’t needed. If it isn’t, then we can sell in summer.

sorry for the spelling error in the title

Re: Fawaz cant do anything wright!

"Fawaz cant do anything wright!" bet he can spell right, and can't.
"because he sacked a poor manager and club legend in Stuart Pearce." and all the others.
"he thought he had found someone better." really? again?
"and i think he is up there with the best available to us." which is like, err nobody that's any good.
"Dougie only getting a contract till the end of the season" thank f*ck for that!
"I’m sure it will be extended if he does well this season!" WTF!, are you serious?
"his goals for this season are to set the foundations up for next season" again? deja vu here.
"apparently we turned down 9m yesterday" even I know NFFC is still worth more than that.
"then what about next season?" heard that before, see above.
"he wants to give Dougie the best shot he can; he’s not taking steps backwards" PSML here....
"hopefully Abdoun, Collins, Halford, Mackie, Majewksi will all be entirely off the wage bill (if Dougie wants) with maybe a few others. There definitely won’t be any money spent on transfer fees out! And hopefully we have some improved revenue." there'll be nobody left soon, where's the revenue coming from if there's no-one to play?

Re: Fawaz cant do anything wright!

Wright is an occupational surname originating in England.[1] The term 'Wright' comes from the circa 700 AD Old English word 'wryhta' or 'wyrhta', meaning worker or shaper of wood. Later it became any occupational worker[2][3] (for example, a shipwright is a person who builds ships), and is used as a British family name. Wright is also an anglicized version of the Scots Gaelic clan name "MacIntyre" or "Mac an t-Saoir", meaning "Son of the Wright", or "Son of the Carpenter".

Re: Fawaz cant do anything wright!

It's not that he doesn't get things right, it's the unnecessary bullshit around the stuff he gets wrong that grates with people. I was prepared to go into work this week and cop all the flak about Pearce from my colleagues, but instead it's going to be about the Faulkner, about unpaid bills and about Abdoun. In other words, about Fawaz himself and the ways in which he isn't behaving appropriately for a modern chairman of an English club.

The buck for all these things stops with him. Each time he's got something wrong I've thought "fair enough, you made a mistake - so long as it doesn't get repeated to the point where it humiliates the fans that's fine". But it frequently does.

For a start, he could ditch his entourage. If Faulkner was undermined by Hassan Saef or Lalou Tifrit, Fawaz deserves one hundred percent of the criticism he receives over the issue. Language barrier notwithstanding, Faulkner did more in one Radio Nottingham interview to convince me that he is an upstanding, responsible, self-aware individual than Fawaz has done in two and a half years at the club.

Much of the respect Fawaz receives comes for the investment he has made in the club but quite frankly, I'd be just as capable of promising to pay a club if they let me sign their player, then not paying. And I wouldn't do it without the say-so of the manager, either.

In football there's chairmen and owners who get plenty of negative coverage and those who get very little. It's pretty much up to the individual to decide which sort they want to be.

My stance on him? I think Forest's best chance of future success as things stand is him getting it all to click in the next couple of years. But a half-decade of the nonsense that comes hand in hand with supporting Forest at the moment is not going to leave me feeling encouraged.

I bet he can, good for him! are we counting that as a positive then?
"because he sacked a poor manager and club legend in Stuart Pearce." and all the others.
That is true... youre good at this.... which one did you want to keep, out of curiosity?
"he thought he had found someone better." really? again?
Yeah... again, we don't know if hes 'wright' or not yet, but he thinks so
"and i think he is up there with the best available to us." which is like, err nobody that's any good.
Unfortunately youre 'wright', i think even with our limited options we have better options than Pearce
"Dougie only getting a contract till the end of the season" thank f*ck for that!
I agree! i said that in my main post!
"I’m sure it will be extended if he does well this season!" WTF!, are you serious?

Deadly, i think rewarding managers who do well with a contract extension a good idea. Do you not?
"his goals for this season are to set the foundations up for next season" again? deja vu here.
Unfortunately yes, what should we do different? i wanted pearce here for the rest of the season. I said that, but hes not so what should we do differently? not prepare for next season?

"apparently we turned down 9m yesterday" even I know NFFC is still worth more than that.
In player transfer fees

"he wants to give Dougie the best shot he can; he’s not taking steps backwards" PSML here....

Why? selling Atonio, lansbury and paterson seem like steps backward.
"hopefully Abdoun, Collins, Halford, Mackie, Majewksi will all be entirely off the wage bill (if Dougie wants) with maybe a few others. There definitely won’t be any money spent on transfer fees out! I meant other forms of income than player sales

Hey Red Sox.

Nobody is taking the piss mate or not taking your post seriously. But when things are this bad the only thing to do is have a laugh or we'd all be topping ourselves.
There's a lot of folk on here (myself included) been on the Forest roller-coaster many many (40 plus) years.

Laughing is better than crying...........

I know mate, i don't begrudge anyone for taking the piss. I feel that laughing instead of crying has been the mood on here for a while!

Re: Fawaz cant do anything wright!

Sending an email to someone with second name Wright... Damnit Brain.
If you were offering Freedman's job to Tommy Wright it's understandable.

It was entitled "Fawaz can't do anything Wright" and contained an apology to Tommy that Dougie took the job already, and Fawaz can't bring himself to sack him while he's in a press conference?

Seriously though, I've corrected similar(ish) typos a few times. Although never Osvald to Osvold.

PS Tommy Wright Wright Wright!!! (only joking Dougie)

I don't mind Fawaz making the odd misstep, but he turns the club into an embarrassment and doesn't seem to have any kind of plan.

Everything is done in such an amateur fashion

Back when you-know-who got the tin tack, Fawaz came under fire for not having an immediate replacement, and we got landed with Brazilia. Then there was the very public search for a new manager, when people like Warnock had a chance to have a dig. He got flak for all that. This time, before firing Stuart, he'd clearly got Freedman waiting in the wings, appointed within hours of the dismissal... and he still gets shot at. Damned if you do.
