Wellity wellity wellity...

The Original Reds are in the last 32 after beating an Arsenal side with half their first team out, whoda thunk it? Now onto a different test in the shape of east midlands quote-unquote "rivals" Leicester City.

Yours truly will again be in attendance, rejoice for I am worth a third of a stadium  :nowink:

Anyhoo...

Who: Nottingham Forest (Yay!)
47
vs Leicester City (Boo!)
leicester-city-FC-logo-url-512x512-300x300-60x60.png

What: The Football Association Cup, it's where the "magic" is.

Where: The World Famous we-haven't-sold-out-the-name-to-corporate-sponsors-yet City Ground.

When: Sunday 6th of February, at 4PM for some reason.

Why: In traditional fashion, two balls with numbers allocated to both Forest and Leicester were consecutively picked out of a bag by professional ball bag David James, and by Leah Williamson respectively.

The only team talk needed is a picture of Gary Lineker on a dart board in the dressing room, and to be told that man is in attendance. I really want a win here so I can drink that conceited prick's tears, don't let me down, Forest.

When I was younger, I remember Forest beating these, 5-1.

And did you notice, they only managed to win the Premier League after signing Westley Morgan from NFFC?

Coincidence, I think not.

Anyway, result, not bothered as Forest frankly have bigger fish to fry.

Hard to predict without knowing what sort of line up either side is going to put out. I have a feeling we'll use this opportunity to give Laryea, Ojeda, Panzo and Surridge a run out though.

The Bin Dippers have no route into Europe other than winning and retaining the F.A. Challenge Trophy.
Logic dictates they will field a strong side.
Cooper wants us to win every game.
Logic dictates he too will field his strongest side.
The Foxes will underestimate us.
We will win 3-0.

I know it's a bit boring, but think it'd be good to take a chance to rest a few players. Johnson seems like he's played almost every minute this season. Maybe Yates or Colback could take a break too.

It will be fascinating to see how SC approaches this one. The head will say that after a tired and lacklustre performance on Sunday and with injuries mounting up, it makes sense to play a reserve team, even knowing that they'll get tonked.
The heart will say that he has an ethic of wanting to try to win every game.
I suspect he'll go somewhere between the two, maybe giving debuts to some of the new signings and giving a couple of youngsters an opportunity. In which case, we'll make a decent game of it but not enough to win.

Leicester City Facts:-

Leicester City are the ultimate miracle club, being the only side in history outside of the Big Six to win the only trophy that has ever mattered. (This fact is proudly sponsored by Sky Sports).

The Foxes honoured manager Claudio Ranieri for this incredible achievement, by erecting a statue made of empty Walkers crisp packets outside of Filbert Street. And then sacked him.

TV coverage for this one will be hosted by former Leicester player Gary Lineker, who holds the records for both the largest ears and most fragile toe to ever play football.

As much as I enjoyed beating Arsenal in the end, the result of that is you just run into an equally good side. Were not going to win the cup were just delaying our exit whilst risking injuries and fitness levels.

Given where we are in the league and a few lackluster performances in a row, seemingly from the Arsenal game onward, then I think being sensible we should rotate.

Rest the players who've played every game and those who don't have ready made replacements as backups and who are irreplaceable. Give some minutes to the new signings, youngsters and those on the fringes.

Obviously SC will make change for this: Cook and Grabban are forced ones, and surely he will want to include some or even all of the January signings.
He will probably want to give Samba a rest and take a look a Horvath.
If he does give the American a game, and the Yank has a blinder, I hope he keeps the shirt for a few Championship games.
I think we will see:
Horvath
Yates McKenna Panzo
Spence Garner Cafu Colback Laryea
Davis Silva

Subs: Smith (J), Lowe, Figuerido, Konate, Surrige, Zinckernagel, Johnson

an entertaining game forest coming out winnersbythe odd goal in five.

Would like to see Johnson,Garner and Colback rested.

Odd one, this.

Coops could decide the first team are knackered, after that lacklustre performance against the Cardiff, and give them the day off to allow the rest to impress and force their way into contention.

Or he could tell the first team to get their fingers out and they are playing for their places by playing and not watching the also rans playing for their places. If you get what I mean.

So, I have no idea what team he ought to play, what tactics he ought to employ and whether he'll catch covid and just go to bed, missing the game altogether.

Is so even alive?
I've neither heard nor read any updates on his situation for many weeks now.
Is he even in the Country, or has he returned home?
Such a disappointing one this: he looks like a class player, has a decent pedigree, yet seems to be irreparably broken.

Soh played a full game for the U23s a couple weeks ago.

Admittedly it's not very catchy but

The only big East Midlands football club never to have ripped off local businesses and not pay them back, you'll never sing that

It's the sort of thing Coops will completely downplay and say he's weeks away from returning to then pop up in the starting 11. We've seen it a couple of times from him now.

What's your beef with Samba?

Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk

I don't have a real beef against Samba.
However, he has brilliant "highs" and then some poor lapses in concentration.
He also gets yellow carded frequently for time wasting antics, and was fortunate against Direby not to get a red.
On the basis that he may get injured or may get a red at some point I think we will probably have to call on Horvath at some point in the Championship run in.
He hasn't actually played since his disastrous Championship debut v Boro.
I think resting Samba (he has just had a nasty head injury as well) and trying out Horvath in a game that is less important than the championship games would be a good idea, giving Cooper a chance to see how he actually behaves in a competitive game.
