England are so good at scoring a 2nd goal quite quickly against most nations as soon as they score a 1st.

Makes it even more puzzling how negative they become against the big nations or in a game of huge magnitude.

I'm struggling with the concept of Matt Bianco playing for Ukraine.

Probably an unpopular opinion on here but I like Southgate. Yes he had a tendency for his teams to peak early in huge games and struggle in the final minutes but I think he’s got England to where they sit in the hierarchy of world football and it’s probably a fair reflection on where we are tbh

Yeah but if he didn't shit his pants in big games we might have won a trophy

But at least he wears a waistcoat & built relationships with the press

Give Gareth his due, we have had some fun, but he's only doing what he should have done with the quality of player he has at his disposal.

I suppose you could go further and say he has actually underperformed with those players. I'm not a tactical genius or even one who bothers much about tactics, just about the quality of play dished up and the result. But results and the style of play is a bit too stodgy and tentative.

Compare to the style of English cricket these days, which shows just what can be done by different tactics employed by the same set of players.

These last couple of games, TAA has shown what he can do when he's not made to focus on what he's no good at - defending.

Will be very interesting to see how he gets on against strong opposition - if cowardly Southgate picks him!

Can't be many better passers of the ball in world football.

Why did Southgate need Klopp to play Alexander-Arnold in that position for him to realise it himself?

I remember the days when Sven would pick Chris Powell, Darius Vassell, Theo Walcott and call up a relatively unknown Owen Hargreaves and not care what anyone thought about it. That was supposedly the golden generation.

There's no bravery in Gareth. He relies on the quality of the player to get him by and he's lucky England have a lot of quality these days, which is probably nearer to the golden generation than what Sven had. I mean, Stewart Downing, Aaron Lennon, Peter Crouch, Paul Robinson, David James, Scott Carson are included in the golden generation Sven had. And there wasn't many other players that were better to pick from in their respective positions.
