Re: Evangelos Marinakis

but is running a club in a one team league the same as a championship? think he will same to an extent, want short term success as fast as possible in regards to promotion to the premier league
Fawaz doesn't run the club very well does he? We are about as attractive to manage as Grimsby Town, under an embargo as Fawaz's accountant is Tony Montana and we have dropped league positions each year.

If you trust Fawaz to take the club forward, that's up to you but I don't believe this guy could be any worse. Plus it means no Emad, which is a bonus.

This could actually be a way to get around FFP. Entice a young, promising player to sign for Olympiakos due to the champions league football then
Loan him to us for a season.

Is that legal? Do watford do something similar?

It is doable.

i think a lot will matter on the choices he makes for the next manager, think if he planning on selling and this guy wants to buy, he will need to get in a quality manager on par with MON to make it as attractive as possible. there are worse owners out there maybe not this guy as he has run a club before but i think even for him the championship will be a eye opener

Thank god it's the Sun. I'd be worried otherwise.

Aren't Olympiakos the one's getting done for match fixing? We'd be f**ked, although things would at least be a bit more interesting.

f*** it, lets become the nuttiest club on the planet. Lets get this guy, Billy for a third time, Roy Keane assistant manager, Joe Kineaar DoF and di Canio head of PR as well as Chief Exec. At least it'd be a laugh and a potential Channel 5 show.

I quite like the idea. Moussaka at half time, ouzo on tap. Not like any of the wealthy Greeks nor Greece as a country has had any recent financial problems or issues with paying bills etc either.

Would we get Mythos lager instead of the piss they currently serve?

If anyone can break a financial agreement, the Greeks can.

I've been trying to come up with a good relevant pun all the way through reading this thread, but the best I can manage is

"Beware Greeks buying gits"

Beware Greeks bearing gifts, still it could lead to a German bailout which is not a bad thing for cheap tickets

Don't be silly now! The Hasawi family won the bidding to take on the 2nd division money pit that is Nottingham Forest, along with it's over expectant fanbase. I think that we should show them a little more respect!

If it turns out that the grass is not greener on the other side, hope all the c**** that drove Nigel Doughty and Fawaz out of the club stick around to recieve the abuse that they will fully deserve.

That's fine, we'll blame you for the League 1 days, no top flight football this century, FFP, constant sacking of managers making the job a poisoned chalice.

f*** it chuck in the 5-0 Derby embarrassment too.

Just because it could get worse doesn't mean this is acceptable.

I think he'll be great. Sure he might struggle for a few years as he gets used to operating in the UK but mark my words, hell have us up in the Prem by 2022. Then we will see real investment.

Hopefully, by then, that fella Cooper who's with England youth will have progressed and we'll have him in as the new manager. Got big hopes for this guy.

And, to top it all off, Derby's chickens will come home to roost and they will be, rightly, relegated to L1 for the sins of mad Mel.
