Screw The PL
Is it?

Didn't Fawaz selling us get us better?

Now that we are a Prem club, couldn't Marinakis selling us potentially attract better owners?

Genuine questions, that may not be the case, but I'm not seeing any "madness", there seems to be valid reasoning behind it.
I think the fanbase, granted that’s a generalisation, has underestimated the scale of jump from Championship to PL.

I’m afraid that the territory we are in. Or fighting to stay in.

I'd guess they are less than ours, no idea though.

I struggle to understand a bit because I was paying £500 in A block when we were in League 1, 20 years ago. My new renewal if I decide to is £700.

Ive certainly eaten £200 worth of Wotsits on that time.
Higher on average apparently. Just Luton, Burnley, Sheff Utd and Brentford lower than ours on average in the current PL.

You would need longer to form that opinion to an educated level. We were fast tracked into this PL situation with an unexpected promotion and about 7 contracted players.

EM has rolled the dice to keep us up. I’m fine with that. Don’t die wondering.
Agree totally.

Im not sure theres a man alive that would have implented the blue print in such a short space of time, certainly not one that owns a football club.

It beggers belief how ungrateful and naive some people are.

If it wasn't for an absolute fluke we could well be in Div 1 given how badly he was running the place.

We are run now much in the same way as we were pre-Dane Murphy.

Marinakis isn't going to change how he runs the club, for better or worse. If that's to your liking then fair play, but it's not for me.

That's not true is it Ashley.

Marinakis got us promoted so he's above any criticism.

Marinakis is the first owner in decades I've had faith in wanting the best for the club with a passion.
He's imperfect for sure but I'm still over the moon that we have him.
If he has f**ked up a bit and we are relgated because of the points deduction I'll judge him more on his reaction to that than the initial mistake.

I don't see what is so crazy about wanting us to be run properly like a normal football club.
I'd be with you Ash but unfortunately I think getting a good owner is less than a coin flip. We've all seen what shit owners can bring both here and at other clubs. If the risk wasn't so huge at getting a shit owner I'd be with you. The one thing we're guaranteed to have with Marinakis is our football club. I genuinely believe he cares, he does unbelievable work for the community and demands it and he always puts his hand in his pocket.

I'd rather not risk the security we do have with him unnecessarily. Better the devil you know and all that.

What exactly did Murphy do that was so incredible? Apart from sign Djed Spence and, fairs fair, Taiwo Awoniyi when he isn’t crocked? He did a good job I’m sure but I just don’t really get the canonisation.

Steve Cooper, yes, obviously.

Criticism is obviously fine. But this thread is literally titled “Evangelos Marinakis out protest” and many, rightly in my opinion, wouldn’t go nearly that far.

Let's face it you have to be a bit mental to want to own a football club, which is why there are so many mental owners around

We'd all love Martin Lewis to take us over but the reality is an astute, level-headed person like that would never buy a football club in the first place, and as unlikely as it sounds as owners go I think EM is one of the saner ones!

That said he is not beyond criticism, he has made his fair share of mistakes and I think when the dust has settled his ownership certainly over the last season or so has had more troughs than peaks. It's not anti-Marinakis to point that out, and it's perfectly legitimate to do so without wanting him out

It's very much 'be careful what you wish for' for me; I don't want Marinakis gone and I wouldn't support any kind of "EM OUT!" protest; however he does need to change his ways and make better decisions, and if he can't do that employ someone to run the club who can

Well he appointed Steve Cooper for one. And the recruitment was much better, without breaking the bank. Even results aside, it was just nice to be a normal football club for a change as the ownership took a back seat for once.
