Can anyone enlighten me as to why Faulkner's been placed on 'gardening leave' if he resigned his post.

I'm fully behind Dougie and hope others are. I find it shocking some are writing him off already - I am just glad we didn't go for another 'fan pleaser' as the last two clearly haven't worked.

All positive signs in his press conference - young coach and wants to simply coach the players. Knows the situation with FFP and most impressively: Didn't say anything negative or make any early excuses. He knows we have a squad that's underachieving and fingers crossed, he will get the best out of them with the crowd behind him. A lot of people within the game have a lot of time for Dougie as a manager/coach, and he's only 40 which is youthful in managerial terms. It's about time we went for a younger manager instead of one that's been around the block ten times.

Let's get behind him and not mope around... COYR!!
Writing him off? f***ing hell what's Fawaz said now.

It stops a ceo or manager going to another club and/or spilling the beans. Contract or I'd in full and keep your gob shut or it gives Fawaz time to apologise profusely and ask him back

Probably had a notice period which he wanted to be paid for: putting someone on gardening leave stops them being privy to confidential information whilst you work out a compromise agreement.

Maybe he has an unkempt allotment?

Wigley, Eastwick and Flowers all got put on gardening leave too. Billy and his boys are still on the monthly payroll with no work expected of them also.

One title we should be placing bets on is Nottingham winning Britain in Bloom 2015.

Don't agree, the final straw was losing at home to Millwall, we were in free fall...

Manager was already gone. Freedman was announced Sunday night within an hour of the sacking being an announced.

I'd assume he has a notice period, which his employers (ie Fawaz) say they don't want him to work out.

Putting people on gardening leave, aside from ensuring they keep their gobs shut, also means Fawaz doesn't have to find lump sums to pay them off. The Peterborough debacle yesterday shows how crap he is at finding lump sums.

Should Billy, for example, find another job before his contract with Forest expires he will have to firstly get Fawaz's agreement (not an issue) but then need to forgo the rest of his Forest contract. This is why a lot of managers "disappear" for a while after being replaced. MacKay, Moyse, Dimatteou all being recent examples.

I was thrilled to bits when that man was appointed manager of Fôrest, some time in the December, I was talking to one of the players, he told me that just wait and watch us kick on after Christmas, things are starting to fall into place.

His whole ethos for the club was one of serious development, still pissed off he was sacked, now Fawaz has sacked a legend who was trying to rebuild, like SOD bottom to top. Sad, so very sad for the club, two huge missed oppotunities.

Big difference between Pearce and SOD.

Gardening leave's common when you dispose of senior staff who have a notice period due to them. Better out of the building than inside f***ing things up.

Weirdly enough, Alan Titchmarsh has never been placed on gardening leave

I really hope he becomes one of our most successful managers ever, just so that in years in the future someone digs up his first ever forest press conference and has to hear about Prince Harry's trousers

I should hope Dug knows the ffp rules. He sure did when he slaughtered his new paymaster for breaking them. Hypocrisy ?

Good luck to him though. It's the number one criteria needed as our manager . Luck .

in hindsight he was right though. He had to sell off Boltons assets to comply with the rules whilst we were throwing money around. He complained it was difficult to compete unless it applied to everyone.

It's irony that he is now here just as the chickens have come home to roost.

I think he'll do okay, providing he can get the players playing for each other.
