If not freeman then who would fans want??
Asked this about hour and a half ago and not seen answers yet- apart from that we shouldn't of sacked psycho which I agree with. It's ok critising Dougie but who's available??

Off the top of my head Garcia, rosler, Mcdermott, parkinson, robinson, colin, adkins all ahead.

You never know with the Championship, as has been said we all laughed when Dreby appointed "the Wally" and thats turned out pretty good for them, there is almost no rhyme or reason when it comes to Managers being successful in different places. I wish DF all the luck in the world and hope he is hugely successful here and is our team Manager 10 years from now with us nestled firmly in the Prem. For every reason it couldn't work theres the same amount it could.

So let me get this right, many of the fans who said you should always stand by a manager when Pearce was in charge, are now saying 'f*** off Freedman' before he's even begun?

No point defending a manager which will be sacked within 6 months. Might aswell see what fun you guys have in writing off managers early?

Where's me hammer?
How many years is in contract for ?

28 games... If we arent top 6 and passing teams off the park hes f**ked. Any wins in his first 10 games will be classed as lucky and will not count.

My thought is this, will Freedman be the sort of manager that can convince Britt, Antonio etc to stay at the club come the end of the season?

A rousing win is coming our way this weekend, making people realise how good this team is. Anyone wanna wager??

New manager bounce with a churchillian type speech prior to kick off, under peforming players saying this win was for old gaffer etc etc

Good post. Let's all back the new man. Really this forum should now all be behind DF and the team, and at games the team should be given the same backing from the stands as they did under Pearce.

It's a new start and whether you're happy about the appointment or not everyone should be giving the guy a clean slate.

Nope, i wanted this guy

I think most are just underwhelmed and bewildered by the choice.

It's very important we give him a chance if we want the club to survive in this league. There are already some idiots on Twitter calling for Fawaz out and whatnot. Probably the same lot that wanted Pearce out.
I'm far from happy about today's decisions but we need to get a grip for once. This shit is getting serious now and we could end up in a proper mess.

Having a manager who has managed Pratley is almost like we've signed Pratley.
I hope Dougie does well, for some reason I see him and us as quite a good fit. He's young and will be eager to put his Bolton experience behind him. Whoever came in after Pearce would have struggled, popularity wise, but, looking at what's available, I'd say we haven't done too badly.

Don't know what to think of this. Yeah there are people who'll point to his recent exploits and say he's the wrong choice but I'm not so sure.

I think he's a good manager but for some reason it all went wrong for him at Bolton (it didn't to start with mind, he had them rocketing up the table in the 12/13 season). In any case I'd definitely give him a chance if I were in your position, it's hard to predict how he'll do but there are certainly worse options out there.

This could be a complete disaster for Fawaz. If things go wrong with Freedman, which I really hope they don't, Fawaz will be in a very difficult position. Sacking a club legend (people will soon forget the terrible run of form that prompted the decision) then appointing a manager who nobody wanted. For his sake i'd get off Twitter!

Let's hope things can't get any worse. I, for one, support the club, no individual is bigger than the success of the team. Let's hope Dougie can get the players playing better than Pearce. A few wins and staying the division will go a long way to help.

The thing about Dougie is that he seemed to do well in his first season but then subsequently flopped so yes , if he can replicate what he did at palace and Bolton and get us out of relegation worries , then that's fine by me. This season is a wash out but we are not out of relegation troubles yet.

It's a very difficult one to call because he is actually a manager I quite admired for a while. When you put it into context his CV is very, very similar to Rosler in the sense that a blinding job he left before he had chance to complete, follow by a huge turnaround and a subsequent downturn. That you just can't quite make sense of. Rosler was one of my main choices, so I guess Freedman should arguably be the same?

Who knows, when I watched his teams play the football wasn't too bad and there's some success in there too, he's also had to work under a budget. There's some good and some bad and hopefully the good stuff will come to the fore here.

Tonight's just emotionally charged coz of pearce's departure mate. You can't blame folk really, Freedman is probably one of the worst names we could have employed straight after Pearce, especially seeing as he made comments about the amount of cash we'd spent. by doing so he's also put a lot of pressure on himself.

“We watched them and the depth Stuart has got in his squad is pretty much as good as you’ll get in the Championship.

“He can play two teams and two benches with good quality players at this level of football.

“It’s hard to know what side he will pick but in the last few weeks he’s picked up Chris Burke, Michail Antonio and Britt Assombalonga to give him that confidence boost. It’s something I’m trying to do – get those attacking players in as the final piece of the jigsaw. But with £8m it’s a bit easier to do. "

Well you've got them now Dougie. If you feel this is as good a squad as you get in the Championship it's got to be top 2 hasn't it?

At Bolton , his success usually concided with loanees he brought in which then he subsequently failed to sign in the summer because his chairman wasn't willing to stump out which lead to fans turning on him.

I really can't understand why the chairman hasn't taken time to think it over He's just dived in both feet.

SP has been floundering for a while. The Derby game bought him time, but Fawaz would have been remiss if he want talking to potential replacements. At least we're not treading water for a few months waiting for the new man to start like we were with SP.
